The leader and co-founder of Mexico's notorious Sinaloa cartel, along with a son of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, were arrested Thursday by the FBI, federal authorities announced.

The Justice Department confirmed that Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada and Joaquin Guzman Lopez were arrested in El Paso, Texas. One senior official familiar with the arrest told CBS News that Zambada was taken into custody by the FBI without incident along the U.S. border.

I heard that they surrendered because Kamala Harris was going to personally lead Seal Team 6 and "capture" them like Bin Laden. Lots of people are saying it.

She's so tough the cartels just call her "La Mala", "the bad one".

You joke but I could honestly see that being a back pocket approval rating booster for her since draconian pursuit of prosecuting criminal activity is an easy lean in for her career experience.

Holy shit that’s big. Wonder why they’d even risk coming up

My tinfoil hat theory is that he was on the run after being deposed. The Cartel has a new head and wanted to remove any trace if the old regime, which is why he took El Chapo's kid to Texas.

Or an even crazier idea is that he's the payment for those tourists that got killed a few months ago.

They should be bussing him off to Martha’s Vineyard any day now.
