And it is absolutely not over, to be clear. Not only will they push this shit again the moment the election is over, given a Trump victory, they also have ongoing open recruitment efforts to hire loyalists into positions throughout the government - "properly vetted and trained personnel" to enact their (already worked out and published) policy.

[–] Arbiter@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, they’re just going to ground to wait for a good time to rebrand.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 20 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Project 2026, it’s totally not sinister.

[–] frezik@midwest.social 7 points 2 months ago

It's amazing they put this out in the first place. The Heritage Foundation has been putting out the reports in this series for decades, but this is the first one where they went full mask off on conservative policy. They really thought they won and "real America" would love it with Trump cruising to victory.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 79 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Until about 4 seconds after the election, if Trump wins.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 26 points 2 months ago

probably even if trump loses.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 50 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Trump still says he's going to be a dictator, right? And still calls immigrants vermin? And still says he's going to bomb Mexico? And still wants to pull out of NATO? And still loves Putin?

Oh, also he's still a rapist and a convicted felon, right?

I'm just saying, there's a lot of other things to talk about here.

[–] BobGnarley@lemm.ee 15 points 2 months ago

Agreed. When he said you'll never have to vote again was when he really showed his hand.

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

They're not mad about anything Heritage said. They're mad that they said it so loud.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 36 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

lol. project 2025 to end public policy disclosure is more like it.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 34 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh good, they've ended the already complete "policy work." Now they can get on to the task of heavily promoting it!

[–] ZhaoYadang@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Yes, people commonly stop working on something when it’s finished. Will the fucking media EVER start writing good headlines again?

[–] razorwiregoatlick@lemmy.world 29 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Unrelated, Project 2029 policy work has just started.

[–] rusticus@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

has just started

The Handmaid’s Tale has already been written.

[–] razorwiregoatlick@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

By started I mean they are still trying to figure out how to rename the current Project 2025 google doc.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 28 points 2 months ago

Project 2025 has finally ended, whew! Dodged a bullet there. Amiright? [10 minutes later] Rebranded as Global Takeover 2026, new staff just hired.

[–] frezik@midwest.social 20 points 2 months ago

So embarrassing when people see your true opinions and everyone hates them.

[–] APassenger@lemmy.world 20 points 2 months ago

The policy work is done anyhow, isn't it?

Now it's win election and implement time.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago

Too late fuckers

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago

This will be bloodless if the right allows it to be

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Project 2025 to change name, continue as before.

[–] Donut@leminal.space 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Paywall (pay or login), please share an archive link to promote discussions

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Please make the slightest effort to step over the waist high paywall yourself

[–] Donut@leminal.space -2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Why should the onus fall on the people who are interested in the news, if the OP can include it by default? Or better yet, let's have a bot that does it automatically.

Edit: it also communicates to me that OP is not interested in discussions, but just here to flaunt a headline that nobody can investigate without having to put effort in.

Make the bar as low as possible. Be accessible.

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I do sometimes but no when I share the gift link. If it bothers you, just pull up one of the archive sites

[–] Donut@leminal.space 2 points 2 months ago

With this gift link I still had to login or pay. Maybe it doesn't work for my region?

I've seen the archive links on posts of yours though, so I appreciate that a lot.

[–] ptz@dubvee.org -1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Why should the onus fall on OP to accommodate everyone's tin-foil hat? It is literally not hard to put https://archive.ph/ in front of any URL to get it yourself. There are also browser plugins if that's too much work. See also: 12ft.io

Your home instance runs Tesseract (https://tes.leminal.space) which includes multiple archive link options on every relevant post. They're, like, right there. I know that because I wrote the thing and included that feature because I'm sick of people whining "paywalled".

So instead of whining "Paywalled!" and expecting everyone to accommodate you, maybe try putting in the slightest bit of effort first.

[–] Donut@leminal.space 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What do conspiracies have to do with this? It's about making news accessible

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 1 points 2 months ago

common now. ptz knows as does everyone that knowledge on how to bypass paywalls is known to everyone regardless of how new or how much experience they have online and anyone asking for help is just whining and should get gud /s

[–] Donut@leminal.space 1 points 2 months ago

I see you added two paragraphs so let me respond to those separately.

You're making a lot of assumptions about my environment. I'm using an Android app, and I see no archive link options anywhere. Nor do I even browse my "home" instance, it was just an arbitrary choice to make an account there.

12ft.io doesn't even work on most websites for me. I've tried, but it would always break the page or just give me an error.

Lastly, only OP can put an archive link in the body. So even if I archived something and shared the link, it's still less accessible than OP including a link in the body.

[–] nifty@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

I am glad they’re going to re-brand, that just means any policy work that has any project 2025 themes in it will be open for criticism
