Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel worries that former President Donald Trump may not accept the results of the upcoming general election if he loses — in part because of whom he might lose to.

“My belief is this: If Donald Trump had such a difficult time conceding that he lost to another older White man, he is definitely not going to be OK in the event that he loses a presidential election to a younger Black woman,” Nessel told reporters Monday, referencing Vice President Kamala Harris’ expected place at the top of the Democratic ticket. “And I am very concerned about what plans he and his allies might have to be disruptive to the 2024 election.”

[...]

“He’s already said if he doesn’t win, it’s because it was stolen. And I mean, that is so frightening — ‘Either I win, or it’s not fair,’” she said.

I'd be so fucking happy if he lost by a massive margin. By, like, 30 points difference, 65 to 35. Probably impossible unless Republicans are so disenfranchised and embarrassed that they stay home. exceedingly unlikely because they have no empathy, cannot comprehend hypocrisy, and barely process shame. They make up less than 30% of the total population but they're usually 100% committed to vote EVERY TIME.

He's got nothing to concede.
Kamala and the Dems are already in the White House, and Biden is Commander in Chief until Kamala is inaugurated.

Fatty McFelon has nothing.

He has a cult and the House of Representatives. Let's not downplay the threat these nuts pose

Against the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Intelligence/surveilance of the world's #1 superpower?

How do the losers organize and strategize against that?

The 'war' would last a few hours.

And, as a prosecutor, she's likely vicious enough to use available assets.

You are thinking of the US military and intelligence community as far more monolithic than it is. Republicans will claim Harris is an illegitimate administration, and tons of federal employees might go along with it (nevermind that SCOTUS could very well side with Trump, giving them a "legitimate" legal claim to their bullshit).

Also, deploying troops inside the US would require an act of Congress to be legal, which makes the military strength far less relevant.

And this isn't even beginning to touch on the sheer impossibility of fighting an insurgency inside your own borders.

The problem isn't Trump, per se, but the increasingly violent alt right.

The only way our democracy is preserved is Trump being arrested, tried, and sentenced for J6.

And since that ain't happening, I'm convinced we'll see a civil war within the next 4 years.

The problem is "Project 2025"... has already been announced to be renamed "Project 2029" if Trump doesn't win.

As long as that's the plan, any Republican win is going to severely erode any remaining US democracy.

I mean, this isn't surprising for obvious reasons - but just a note that he still won't acknowledge the innocence of the Central Park 5 (which he took out a newspaper ad to call for the death penalty for)

That's ok, he doesn't fit the qualifications. The presidency is now a black job, for the next 4 years at least.

Well it seems there's a plan to take the white house no matter what the election results may be:

It kind of worries me that this could actually happen and people would be like, "Aw shucks, I guess there's nothing we can do."

No matter who wins the election, it's going to be a shitshow. We've known this. It is merely a question of to what degree.

Things are looking much better now than they were a couple weeks ago, but I didn't believe for a second this wild ride just stops after a Harris victory. If anything it will embolden them. They will go from "weird" to "outright treasonous on a massive scale" with even greater fervor this time around, I fear.

On the other hand, this time around, they have lost the element of surprise that January 6th had. We can expect this shit now, and that means the capitol police will likely be better prepared for shit to hit the fan.

Always making it about race

[–] The_Che_Banana@beehaw.org 28 points 1 month ago

You mean "why are they always calling out the party that supports & enables racism?"

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 20 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You mean Trump who said Harris wasn't black enough...?

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Maybe he's talking about all the jobs for black people ~~Trump~~ everyone else is talking about?

It's weird how everyone but Trump keeps bringing up race. 🙄
