I finished my second playthrough of the Elden Ring DLC and the entire playthrough overall. I tried and tried to beat the final DLC boss without using summons or ashes, but the closest I got over many attempts was about ~30% health. I eventually broke and used mimic tear for the 2nd phase and beat it the 2nd time I reached that point. I've also been playing some XCOM2 on commander difficulty

Nostalgia called me, and I once again awoke in the hold of a ship, held prisoner for transport, and uncermoniously dumped upon the dock of Seyda Neen.

Haven't gotten terribly far, hoofed it to Balmora(of course clearing tombs and caves along the way), have managed to cobble together a mix of Chitin and Netch Leather armor. Grabbed the Demons Spear before joining the Fighters Guild and meeting with Caius.

Started Still Wakes The Deep a Week ago. Taking my time, but it's pretty good. Not quite as scary as I thought it'd be though.

Also starting a third playthrough of Disco Elysium.

I was initially dismissive of Vampire Survivors before I finally played it and realized that it was kind of like a clicker, so I've been on 30 minute dopamine drip feeding sessions all weekend.

I'm gonna throw some PSP games on my handheld and play at the park. I got Monster Hunter 3rd, Silent Hill Origins, and Armored Core Last Raven queued up. I never had a PSP so I'm open to recs if anyone has favorites.

Started a new Vicky 3 playthrough as Japan on the new patch, did the Meiji Restorations in the 1880s, currently #6 great power as of ~1910. It seems like they changed how the investment pool works and I don't understand the difference between the different laws because none of the tooltips were updated. The PB also seem way more powerful than they used to be. Foreign investment in your vassals is cool and good, though I'm not sure how to do it to non-vassal countries (I would like to buy one China plz). Maybe you need a treaty port? Who knows. My literacy has been going down, lmao, peaked at 75% down to 70%. It's strange that you seem to get one type of Power Bloc (the trade one) without the DLC, but it seems like a nice little buff for great powers.

Edit: oh also they patched out the double uno reverse sway exploit which was probably good.

got back into Grim Dawn. was doing a mostly brianless soldier/oathkeeper autoattack run, lots of passives and stat bonuses. initially it was kinda boring but now i've got some fun stuff that sends the enemies ragdolling away. hopefully i can get through it and actually beat it this time.

also been playing some read dead 2, got the white arabian randomly in the snowy area near the legendary bison. my partner urged me to go catch it as i usually just ignore horses in the game (like i'll use the one you get in the beginning for the entire game lmao) but i got this one all gussied up with a braided mane and a nice saddle. love how people comment on how pretty she is in towns.

elden ring dlc is on hold for a bit, i'll pick it back up whenever.

I've been on farming simulator 22 for about a month. never thought it would be much more than just satisfyingly harvesting wheat for a few hours, but now I'm practically a tractor enthusiast

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Nothing rn cuz I'm doing work on the rez but I have a new PC when I get home so I can finally play armored core 6

[–] magi@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

That fresh new PC, exciting c:

Beat the misty forest on heroic in emberward, which is a “build your maze” style TD with slay the spire style progression and deck building.

I’m also working my way through Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands as I wait for Hunt Showdown 2 and the new Helldivers update. I’m having a good time with Tiny Tina’s it’s the most polished borderlands has felt and the gunplay is satisfying. Heard there’s a roguelikte mode and the end of the story too, I’m looking forward to that

[–] vertexarray@hexbear.net 11 points 3 months ago

Workers and fuckin Resources. Attempted to implement a commuter train on a busy section of rail, probably not making that mistake again

Been playing through Fallout: London. I have some mixed thoughts on it, I love a lot of it, but there are a few pain points, and it is overwhelmingly lib-coded. Great overall considering its a free mod, and in many ways much better than Fallout 4, but the pain points hold it back for now. Full-review maybe coming after I finish it for the first time. Worth noting that I'm a huge fan of Fallout modding in general, even played through The Frontier in its entirety for the NCR, London is a lot better in most aspects so far.

Also getting into Fear & Hunger, it's extremely brutal but I can't help but love how strong the atmosphere is, it's extremely morbid and disgusting, but it's hard to look away. I've heard the second game is a lot better, so mostly playing 1 to get to 2 once I beat the game a few times with different characters.

Elden Ring, i am now level 108, finally leveling Faith after getting to 40 vigor, 40 dexterity. Doing a Bloodflame samurai.

Kids are playing minecraft.

I don't know where the impulse for it came from, but I started playing Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom again. Had to start over since I lost my 50 or so hour savefile a year or so ago, but I installed a few mods (playing on ryujinx) that make the game run and look better and also some that streamline a lot of the more annoying parts of the game (koroks just immediately give you the seeds without having to spam through their dialogue, shrine unlocking animations are skipped, cooking is faster, etc. etc.). And man, I do actually love this game. There's a lot of annoying things about it, a lot of areas that could be more interesting and more fleshed out, but when you get into the flow of it an all of its systems interlink it's just an absolute joy to play. Your arsenal of abilities is just ridiculously versatile and the way you unlock more and more building blocks as you play is really rewarding. Also helps that I feel much more familiar with the controls now, like it's much easier to get into the flow. No idea if I'll actually finish it this time, but we'll see.

[–] Thordros@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago

The best times I had in both Switch Zelda games was just hopping on a horse, putting on the Korok mask, and letting Epona decide where we go. Grab shrines and koroks as they're detected, and soak in the scenery in between.

[–] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago

Haven't been playing many games, but I've been playing Dome Keeper here and there. I've finished all of the challenges on normal, and a few on challenging

[–] magi@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago

Feeling kind of crappy today so not sure if I'll have the motivation to play.. I stopped FF2 a few weeks back because I wasn't feeling it.. so been on a hiatus since then.. I'm sure I'll get the urge at some point to play again.. but when I do, Final Fantasy II will be the game I play

[–] Thordros@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

I fired up a World of Warcraft classic server with alternate progression. And more than one viable talent tree per class. It's nice. I probably won't spend more than a couple weeks worth of evenings on it, but it's nice to get that nostalgia hit.

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Star Wars The mf Old Republic. Locked in on the class stories and loving it

[–] Thordros@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

While I remain bound by a non-disclosure agreement and cannot discuss whether or not BioWare is developing either a MMO or a Star Wars title, I am glad you're having a good time.

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

This is the funniest possible response, thank you

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Damn, I didn't know The Old Republic was still going.

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

It got acquired by a different company a yearish ago, not sure if that means it will last longer though

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

Gotta start Thracia 776

[–] Parzivus@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

Fate/Stay Night remaster releases in three days lets-fucking-go
For now, World of Goo 2 (fun) and Elden Ring coop (mostly fun)

[–] WittyProfileName2@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (2 children)

Mount and Blade: Bannerlord.

I haven't played since the early access first dropped, the new mechanics with sieges make them a bit more dynamic than Warband, but it's still more fun to leap from the castle walls and rush siege engine crews with a two-hander.

[–] Biggay@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

you can sally from the gates to attack the siege engines as theyre built with cavalry but its only really useful for prolonging a siege that you want to get relieved from as opposed to fighting the pitched battle.

[–] WittyProfileName2@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

I've been getting some use out of ambush to whittle down enemy forces in prolonged sieges against some of the huge armies that'll sometimes form. If you can smack down a notable during the raid, all the better.

I've been playing a lil Dwarf Fortress to prepare for a turn on the hexbear fort.

Aside from that, an adorable Mario clone called Kitsune Tails, and with friends a very unique game called Rabbit and Steel, as well as Deep Rock Galactic.

[–] Biggay@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

theres a hexbear fort? have you guys been writing up an actual play for it?

[–] aaaaaaadjsf@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Probably going to play some Horizon Zero Dawn. I severely underestimated this game the first time I tried to play it and gave up, now that I'm playing it again years later, I've realised all the hate I gave it was undeserved. It's a brilliant game.

[–] Runcible@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I hear a lot of people talk about how great the story is and honestly I felt like that was pretty paint by numbers but the acting/characterization was top notch.

[–] aaaaaaadjsf@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

I also felt like that on my first failed attempt to play the game years ago, but playing it now and getting further into the story and game than before, there's a lot of depth that I missed on my first attempt to play the game. The socio-cultural and political aspect of the game world is very interesting.

[–] un_mask_me@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I went back to Baldur's Gate 3 and have been doing every single quest that I can because I missed a lot on my first run, and I want to really take my time with the game this time. I'm really enjoying playing it again, it scratches the DnD itch.

[–] GuyWTriangle@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago

Another run through of BG3 is definitely in my future

[–] blakeus12@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

playing a lot of overwatch. i swear i can quit at any time!

ok, ok, in my defense there's this enby with a bigass drill and playing them is so fun. also their fit goes hard:

[–] FumpyAer@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

Checking out Hades 2. I got to 2nd floor boss on 3rd run, so I feel I'm doing okay. Game got easier when I realized the big circle move is rooting CC by default, cause some enemies do be zooming directly towards you sometimes.

Roblox, very monetized game platform

Mainly Flooded Area and Humans vs Zombies... didn't use any microtransactions

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

No man's sky again, it's so fun honestly. The only non competitive game i go back to over and over

[–] khizuo@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

Played Rain World with my friend the other day. Was really fun.

gameplay spoilersGot murdered a bunch by monster kelp in this one section of Shaded, which was kind of embarrassing looking back especially because once I finally got past them I realized that I had gone the wrong way. Oh well.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Just got Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Interesting the changes they're making to the story, I'd heard it's not a straight remake.

FF7/R spoilersThe bomb AVALANCHE planted didn't completely destroy the mako reactor, Shinra finished blowing it up to make AVALANCHE's attack more devastating as some kind of weird half false flag?

Also there's ghosts now I guess?

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Nine Sols is currently kicking my butt. I had to switch to story mode starting at the first boss because my reaction time is definitely not all there.

Awesome game, though.

[–] MaoTheLawn@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Battlefield 1. Got bored of BF4 in the end. BF1's gunplay and map design takes getting used to coming from 4, but the atmosphere is undeniably incredible. Easily the best WW1 game of all time.

[–] homhom9000@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'm trying to finish Persona 3 so I can start 4. I thought

Persona 3 portable spoilersIt would end when I beat that last shadow but it's still going. What more does this game want from me

[–] peppersky@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Personally I couldn't play multiple 100 hour RPGs that are already pretty repetitive on their own right in a row but you do you

Picked one of the Kinfire decks. Maybe play with it later, may not.

[–] CanYouFeelItMrKrabs@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

still playing FF XIV Dawntrail

kind of exciting to finish it and not touch the game for a few years. It's taken a looong time to catch up

[–] DesertComrade@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Playing l4d2 for the first time since I bought it 5 yrs ago Rlly fun but I am still learning so playing solo for now

[–] Blep@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Played vampire savior: darkstalkers on figtcade. That game sucks. Why is there safe on block dp's? Why can an invincible advancing dash be cancelled into anything. WHY IS GUARD CANCEL RANDOM

They really didnt know what they were doing holy shit

Back on ff14. Story is worse, fights are better, normal content is harder than EW, ex/savage seem to be the same. Probably gonna be the depression game of choice for the next few months.

Still playing strive. New balance patch nerfed system mechanics, making the cast weaker across the board. wa doesn't hkd on wall break, so i have to play neutral more often. Wwa is now minus on block but not in throw range, so i can actually rps. Ppl say they like the patch more, i don't like it as much since my character got nerfed

[–] dannoffs@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

I'm giving Dragon Age: Inquisition a shot. Seems fun so far.
