That's funny, Meat Beacon was my nickname in High School.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 11 points 3 months ago

Oh damn it. I hate myself for that typo.

Beacon has SEEN some shit..

I think heard, not seen. People trauma dump during therapy.

But that's where the advantage over a human therapist comes in: not being able to understand words except maybe "walkies", "food" and "car".

Also, isn't "trauma dumping" a derogatory term about "dumping" your trauma at an inconsiderate time and/or place? Because during therapy is the PERFECT time and place as long as you do it right..

Yeah, but if I'm not mistaken dogs can read human feeling.

If that goes all the way to empathy (which a lot of dog owners would say it does), people around him being unhappy is probably not good for the dog.

(Mind you, the reason I personally like dogs is because it definitelly works the other way around, and making a dog happy - and hence getting a pleasanty feeling from it through empathy - is usually pretty easy)

Dont know if trauma dumping used derogatory. Only heard use when talking about trauma a lot, so become dump of trauma. What you mention sound more like TMI (too much information).

I'm sure Simone just effortlessly and fluidly going into a kneeling position is what you him. "This woman is a predator."

Hey Maven,

This is Beacon the dog. Thanks for your message.

I love you, too.

Warmest regards,

Beacon the Dog, Psy.D.

Petition to rename him to Bacon.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Wouldn't that mean he would want to eat himself?

Beacon, a shining fur friend! He's an adorable best boy ever, he has such a gentle demeanor that could likely soothe the most troubled of souls.
