what's good comrades? i'm just curious if anyone on here is into the same shit as me. i'd love to have some leftist friends who i can talk skating and politics with. i know aggressive skating is a niche thing these days, so the odds of finding anyone else on here doing it are slim, but doesn't hurt to try

i'm getting over a recent injury (tripped over a scooter kid, busted my chin open, bled all over the skatepark) and i'm dying to get back out there

I've had some skates for a while but I lost one of the wheels I bought right after my flat frame arrived waltuh so I stuck to skateboarding.. it's probably in a big box of stuff I need to sort out

what tricks do you recommend for starting out? blading looks scary asf because you can't bail, it'll probably take me 300 years to drop in desolate but cruising around is really fun

i skateboard too, but i'm more of a rollerblader. you're right tho it's scarier when you can't bail like with a skateboard, definitely gotten way gnarlier injuries from rollerblading, but that's also got to do with i'm just better at rollerblading so i try bigger shit.

i would say you want to learn jumping off a kicker ramp and playing around with different types of grabs. just don't get yourself twisted up and you should be able to land them fairly easily. for grinds, learn frontside/backside first, depending on whichever you're more comfortable with- think of these like doing a 50/50 on a skateboard and the H-blocks are your front and back truck. jump and aim them like you would the trucks and you'll get it in no time. a lot of your skateboarding skills will definitely translate to rollerblading

btw, if you have 7/8 wheels you can definitely just put one on the front of that missing skate and skate them like that. or you could even do three wheels per skate, removing the front-middle wheel on each frame. i've actually been thinking of trying this myself recently as a good compromise between flat and anti-rocker

which skates/frames did you get?

I got Roces M12 team and replaced the frames with https://www.thisissoul.com/products/kaltik-flat-ilia-savosin + 60mm wheels (I think the brand was undercover?)

the wheel thing is a good idea, I think I'll try them when it's not raining. there's a diy skatepark near here and they just added a kicker ramp (they tore down a ToysRUs and it was just empty for ages until some locals built a park out of wood/cement), so pretty good timing!

those were the exact frames i wanted, but they didn't have them, so i settled for the black ones. i'm jealous, i wish i had a diy near me.

i was into rollerblading as a kid and a few years ago i got a pair of aggressive skates but i've hardly used them:( where i live sucks for it, not even a half-decent park really.

i feel you, i did it as a kid then had to quit when we moved out to the country and were too poor to buy me any more skates once my feet grew lol. got back into it as an adult, tho. i don't need much, just smooth ground and a curb is fun. i skate flat and love working on my movement.

I like rollerblading, I got into when the pandemic happened and I couldn't play ice hockey anymore. Never got into aggressive skating though, the wheels seem so small and I like going fast. no-copyright

"Wizard"/ slalom skating is more up my alley though
