Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

MODERATORS

It's missing the trademark scary music and delusional reporter looking terrified (also I doubt the subtitles are accurate at every moment).

Obviously extrapolating to an entire country that the Chinese have a better chance of building bridges around the world from one person would be a mistake, but China does have a better chance of building bridges than we ever will and I take this video as a reflection of Chinese culture honestly.

You can't make a country improve their human rights problems and modernize if you sanction them and then bomb them to the ground. More power to China, and a giant middle finger to all the libs who don't remember Afghanistan or China exists unless it's to make the lives of their people more miserable in any way possible. Biden stole (a billion? 8 billion?) dollars from Afghanistan when they were struggling in the aftermath of an earthquake; the people's lives only became worse for it.

But please libs, please tell me all about how China's not trying to cooperate with the world out of principle; yeah, much better that our government should just bomb millions of people to death than countries should make the world a better place for selfish reasons. Libs aren't just a death cult, it's a very idiotic death cult.

(Quick note: I've no idea of the OP's political leanings; I follow him because I'm curious about Russia-Ukraine situation. He's probably unfortunately reactionary)

The Taliban and China have reasonably good working relationships for things like infrastructure planning. The problem is that often when deals have been in the works ISIS-K suddenly pop up and do terror attacks. Same with Chinese investment in Pakistan too before the coup. soviet-hmm

do you have any examples off the top of your head? that's something I'd like to look into

The first one that comes to mind is the Kabul hotel attack in 2022.

There was a pretty serious uptick in attacks on China-related targets like power projects in Pakistan too before the coup.

But ISIS released a video statement officially making China a target and promising the ramped up attacks back in 2017, and there was already crossover with ETIM (East Turkestan Islamic Movement - the name China gives a broader network of terror groups in the region, often focusing on China and Xinjiang) and TIP (Turkestan Islamic Party) the 'political' face of the groups who are designated a terrorist group by everyone except America, allegedly because it makes it easier for them to use TIP to funnel money and wrapons to the overlapping ISIS-K groups.

i think this sort of 'taliban gawking' is weird, you wouldn't bike into a random military outpost (though you probably can in many contexts) in other countries to chat up militiamen/gendarmerie but because of this notion that the Taliban were this great evil there's a spectacle in a reveal that these low level joes are normal people.

honestly maybe i don't like the idea of including random people you meet in travelblogging generally, it feels wrong to publicize and monetize somebody's hospitality that was for you, not your camera and followers. but i particularly don't like the flavor of Taliban ones because they're implicating you as the audience in the notion that these guys they're going to meet are supposed to be savage and dangerous

"Afghanis are hospitable to guests" should be the least surprising thing in all of history, ever.
