this album is so perfectly balanced between their punk roots and the more commercial style they eventually shifted to. it also has a timeless feel, it came out in 2003, I first got into it in 2011, yet hearing it again now in 2024 feels like a fresh experience ๐Ÿ‘

As a huge music nerd and crust punk who mostly only likes diy stuff, it's genuinely one of the best albums ever and should be recognized by mainstream press in the same breath As Sgt Pepper or London Calling. Absolutely no exaggeration. This album is what made the 'emo' explosion of the mid 2000s happen. It's a genuinely historic album and it slaps

As a very confirmed punk as fuck person, this album slaps so fucking hard you'll probably go blind. Also I'm an okay singer most of the time, but my Davey Havoc impression singing voice is spot fucking on. AFI in general rules. Days of the Phoenix is my favorite song to sing by a wide margin, I can crush that tune.

If I'm ever in a karaoke type situation and you're there as well, I will require you to do this.
