Does it bother anybody else that the snail's label is backwards? It should be no legs, house.
I guess, they swapped it, because people might misread it as both 'legs' and 'house' being negated...
That guy may even choose his house. : )
Hermit crabs ... have adapted to occupy empty scavenged mollusc shells to protect their fragile exoskeletons.
But unfortunately, the ocean housing market has been facing a crisis, and a lot of them are finding themselves having to live in plastic waste.
Is using plastic waste necessarily disadvantageous to them? Maybe they choose to us some plastic containers over mollusc shells? (Serious question)
From what I've read, they often get trapped in human-made containers and die. The containers are also often less resistant and durable. However, it seems to be still unclear why they do that, if purely by lack of proper shells, or if they see some advantage in some containers.
