My poodle knows how to tap the homepad with his nose to play music. He gets up to it, taps it, and then curls down beneath it to listen. It’s very cute and definitely intentional on his part.

They are listening to f*cking everything.

I find this more scary than wholesome.

There was a subreddit called HailCorporate for when people accidentally post ads that they made themselves. Like we hear so much advertising that we start internalizing it and end up basically thinking and talking in ads.

Of course it kind of typically devolved into accusations of intent, but I always thought it was a neat idea. Does life imitate art or the other way around type of thing?

Thanks for listening.

I watch the Superbowl for the ads! 🤪🤪🤪

[–] Omgpwnies@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

I'd be slightly less pissed off about constantly being advertised to if all ads had the same level of effort put into them that superbowl ads do

I once activated Siri, and before I could say anything my dog started barking -- and Siri replied "Good boy!"

[–] captainWhatsHisName@lemm.ee 55 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This seems to be an advertisement

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 16 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

My brain somehow didn't grasp that I had never heard of a Homepod before, then when I saw your comment I had to think back and was like "wait a second, Siri? That's not google or Alexa" and I had to reread to understand.

Anyway all to say, I'm tired and not reading well but their advertising must be pretty shit if this is the first ad I've ever seen for it.

I’ve got one, syncs up easily with other Apple devices but the sound isn’t great. If I hadn’t had a gift card to knock down the price it would not be worth $100, I’ve had cheaper Bluetooth speakers with better sound and hardiness.

So for all of apple's design faults, I genuinely think this might have been intentional because it feels like the venn diagram of Apple software engineers and cat owners is more like a circle.

I wish owning a cat got me employment as an apple SWE :/

[–] Asetru@feddit.org 2 points 5 hours ago

Yeah, the difference between subsets and equality seems to be lost for them.

That said, I'm not sure if you'd really want to work for Apple.

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Does the cat wear a turtle-neck sweater/jumper?

[–] kikutwo@lemmy.world 62 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Better check your order history lol

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 20 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

"Palette of tuna? One gross order of feathers on a stick? Premium, Extra Fancy catnip?

-- Oh good, nothing amiss here!"

10lb of Scottish salmon? I must've been drunk..

I didn’t realize Siri and the cats were conspiring. Yesterday I went into the living room to investigate a ruckus and found one of my cats sitting on the couch while the home pod in the window sill was playing Mumford and Sons.

This started in 2011, when cats killed Jobs. Tim Cook is not a real person but a mere avatar operated by cats.

Or if your cat hates you:

  • “What’s New Pussycat?” – Tom Jones

Just keep repeating that for like half a dozen times, until interrupting it with:

  • "It's Not Unusual" - Tom Jones

Before repeating What's New Pussycat again.

Stray cat strut

[–] PhobosAnomaly@feddit.uk 26 points 1 day ago

I mean, "I'm only happy when it rains" should be the national anthem for Catland.

[–] freebread@lemm.ee 24 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I mean, "Son of Sam" was about a man who became a serial killer after being told to by a dog so I can see why cats would like it.

[–] Schadrach@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 23 hours ago

David Berkowitz. He claimed that in court, and later retracted the statement. Sonny from the Venture Bros parody of the Scooby Gang is also a reference to him.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You’d think it would be a cat telling people to kill. Or at least knock shit off the table. Son of Sam could have just been some guy who went into peoples houses and broke stuff.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Dogs are too dumb to conspire. Smart enough to sit and recognize smells, but too dumb for complex thought.

[–] shutz@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 day ago

"Siri, how long has this been going on?"
