Trump will go complete fascist

Yes, as opposed to his super progressive stances he's had up until this point... He's always been a complete fascist, thankfully for us he was just too dumb to fully capitalize on it while in office.

[–] Puppy@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago (10 children)

Trump isn't a fascist. His supporters are. He just says whatever they want to hear 🤷‍♂️

Trump understood that, or at least his handlers and now he's milking the fuck outta 'em.

[–] TheHighRoad@lemmy.world 76 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He's not fascist, he just says fascist things and encourages his followers to act in fascist ways.

[–] ventrix@lemm.ee 27 points 1 year ago

If it looks like shit and smells like shit ... It's definitely not roses

The Trump Administration is correctly aligned with Fascism. Several U.S. Presidents were also Fascist, the previous being the Reagan Administration.

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago (6 children)

Wait, FDR is a left communist? He was a social democrat. There's a joke about how the New Deal saved capitalism. Who the fuck made this?

[–] DharmaCurious@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

He wasn't even really a social democrat, to be honest. He bowed to the pressure of the socialist party at the time to prevent an actual fucking revolution (even if it would have been unsuccessful). Fdr understood that actual socialism would come knocking at the door if he didn't capitulate. Clearly the best president we've had (in economic terms) in the mostly modern era, but he wasn't as progress as people believe.

Edit

Also, tf is a "left" communist in this context? That's not generally a term used, and when it is, it's normally to point out the distinction between anarchists and Marxists, as in Lenin's "left-wing communism."

Is this chart claiming FDR was an anarcho-communist? Because... No. LMAO

They're using the ol' Political Cumpiss Memes plot chart.

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

PCM was 100% idiots and fascists. It would make a lot of sense that they'd create something so dumb.

Trump is the 45th president. How do you make a list like this and ignore the only black president you ever had.

[–] Pansen@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

You might want to re-read that table.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm just confused about the order.

"Trump isn't fascist he just says and does fascist things."

Seriously?

[–] Phegan@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

My man out here is really "well actually-ing" fascism.

[–] RobertOwnageJunior@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

Okay, since you're already here: how does it feel to be the dumbest person I know?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

He's not not a fascist.

[–] neptune@dmv.social 7 points 1 year ago

What's the difference? It's a democracy. There's some level of circularity between the people who vote for a candidate and the candidate themselves.

He's literally pro-dictatorship. Loves the way North Korea is ruled: with absolute authority and with harsh punishments for anyone who disobeys their ruler.

The man is furious that his presidency did not grant him that. If he is elected a second time, he will aim towards dismantling democracy for his own gain.

[–] Draksis@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yea I assume if he did win, his next step would be to dismantle presidential term limits. "Hey just make me emporer"

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

What protections are in place if any to actually prevent someone from doing that?

[–] quicksand@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

The 22nd Amendment, so it's in the Constitution. Unfortunately the current Supreme Court would probably find a way to hugely misinterpret it.

Well... sort of.

Trump never has held and never will hold any coherent political views of any sort. His entire focus is on himself, and the rest of the world only matters to the degree that he might manipulate people and things to feed his own ego, greed and lust.

So what'll likely actually happen is that his mindless supporters will rage, the psychopaths who want the world that having him in power will bring will fan the flames of that rage while whispering in his ear, and yes - he'll go full fascist. But not because of anything to do with fascism specifically - I doubt he can even grasp the broadest concept of it. It's simply that that will be, and to some notable degree will be contrived into being, the thing that he will believe will lead him to what he really wants - simply to feed his bottomless ego, greed and lust.

[–] squiblet@kbin.social 21 points 1 year ago (2 children)

He understands fascism instinctively, not in an intellectual sense.

[–] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 23 points 1 year ago

Fascism is a lot like a government run by a toddler: Everyone who doesn't like me is bad and I should kill them. Also people who are weird are bad and we should kill them. And that land over there is mine so I'm gonna take it. All the while I'm going to complain about how I'm the real victim.

[–] zalack@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Bear Head by Adrian Tchaikovsky delves into this kind of psychology from the interesting angle of treating Narcissistic Sociopaths as an alien form of consciousness. It proposes that sociopaths hijack human social interactions, turning others into mere appendages that carry out the sociopath's desires.

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

He does hold coherent political views. If political views are those having to do with the allocation of resources, then you outlined them yourself. He wants to further his own ego, greed, and lust. He thinks the government should exist to fulfill his every desire, and that all resources should go towards fulfilling them. He's the ultimate embodiment of corruption, with no guiding philosophy beyond selfishness. That is political, because wanting the world to bend to one's own will through the use of government is political. It's a kind of God-Emperor political philosophy.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

He already did for quite a while now.

[–] YoBuckStopsHere@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago (3 children)

If Trump is representing the GOP, Biden wins with 80% of the vote and the Democrats end up with a near super-majority in the House and Senate. More than enough to impeach and remove members of the Supreme Court.

[–] francisco@slrpnk.net 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes. And obviously Hillary would landslide this buffoon

[–] YoBuckStopsHere@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

No, Hillary was the worst candidate to face someone like Trump. The GOP spent 30 years turning the public on her.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Stop, you’re making me horny

[–] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

That’s a take out of left field. No one could have seen it coming. /s
