Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Good article, but man, does anyone else find it weird when CNBC is using “claps back” in headlines? I guess it’s outdated enough now to by used by them, but just struck me as odd.

Clearly he should have slammed him.

[–] takeda@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Feels like they would write "slammed", but because he is gay it is "claps"

News media has to make every mundane exchange sound like a WWE match with clickbaity bullshit headlines.

Elon is MAGA they have nothing to offer but lies and conspiracy theories.

The unfortunate part is how insulated and self-selecting their sources are. There will be ample evidence of the falsehoods and reality but they'll never encounter a counter-narrative. My own mother told me that some such whatever bullshit maybe backed up the eating pets bullshit. I told her to stfu. I hate who she is politically and thus imposed a no-politics rule in 2020, but she sometimes can't help herself.

If I woke up and wrote a whole article and got told the headline, I’d never come back into the office.

Somebody needs to shut that guy up.

I have lots of family all claiming Biden and Harris have botched this recovery after Helene, and it's the Dems fault we give so much money to other countries and (their words here) "illegals", while those effected by Helene only get 750 because there is nothing left.

It's frustrating.

I have seen constant spewing of the bit about FEMA wasting all their money on illegal immigrants and 'now they don't have money for americans!!!!!!!'

Plus, Elon controls the conversation on shitter, so I've already seen his retorts being spread by acquaintances deep into fud territory. You can't even argue with the idiots, because the facts don't matter. The only thing that matters is how much the post in question resonates with their beliefs.

So an airfield is not giving permission to land?

An airfield is not the FAA/FEMA.

Did they file a flight plan. Did this helicopter call Musk while it was to flying around? What, does it have an Elon bat-phone in the cockpit?

How much supplies can a civilian helicopter carry?

Answer not a whole lot and is a terribly inefficient way to transport supplies to an airfield. Helicopters are best for getting into hard to reach locations to pull people out and get them to hospitals.

My guess is some rich friends tried to make an unplanned trip and wanted to land and/or get gas and were told to fuck off. Or something along those lines.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

Yeah unless its a helicopter somewhat designed for cargo or troop transport it aint moving s whole lot. And now all I can hear is fucking Snake talking about the Hind D.

[–] aniki@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 month ago

who fucking cares about that shit hole in a shit hole?
