Browsing hexbear on mobile and have to stop because someone called
Zoomers will never know the annoyance of spending several minutes downloading a playboy photo only to find it won't display because the first version of Mosaic didn't do JPEGs, leading to a futile quest to find some free software to view JPEGs that worked on Windows 3.1.
Zoomers will never know about having to go to the library to get another 30 day AOL trial CD so you never have to actually pay for dial up.
I for one am thankful that zoomers are spared the horrors of Windows 3x

There was a popular image viewer at the time, I was thinking it was IrfanView, but apparently that didn’t exist until 1996 (and still gets updated!).

the emote menu is a terrible comparison. waiting for all of the emotes to load on hexbear is a workout. its stretching and tearing a muscle -- your patience. a valuable muscle + virtue. when your virtue heals up (make sure to take in extra protein and water), you will be shocked at how fast the emote menu loads

You can get the same dial up experience with an old enough phone.
