I'm glad Chuck Norris memes are dead.

Guy tried to use his Internet clout to spread homophobia and endorsed anti-LGBT extremists.

He should have just kept his mouth shut.

He's also responsible for white washing the image of the Texas Rangers who are actually atrocious and horribly corrupt, with a really dirty history

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 14 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You and me both really. Also I never got the fascination in the first place. He was the most generic looking dude I could imagine. I always just kinda thought of him as cowboy Steven Seagal.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago

That kinda sums it up, but the dude could actually fight. He has black belts in judo, tang soo do, and Brazilian jiu jitsu, which are no joke. My connection sucks so I can't find solid info on tournament records, but he was VERY good.

Steven Seagull runs out of breath holding people's hands while they flip over.

It's a shame he ended up being a piece of shit because he seems pretty awesome otherwise, but that's religion for you.

Chuck Norris is just Gigachad from Wish.

[–] Sheeple@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Giga Chad as a concept promotes being at peace with yourself, bettering yourself and making yourself a better person in society.

Chuck Norris as a concept mostly promotes toxic masculinity and "being badass", a proclamation of toxic superiority that is unattainable.

[–] abigscaryhobo@lemmy.world 0 points 2 years ago

Giga Chad as a concept is used by whoever wants to use it to justify anything they want by saying "'cause I'm a Chad". In the same way that Chuck Norris did. 90% of the memes for each can be replaced with the other and lose almost no relevance. Someone can use a giga Chad meme to say "women's rights are a joke" and the same for Chuck Norris. They can also say "defending the homies when they want to share their feelings to the bros". I'm not saying the Chuck Norris memes are guilty free or whatever, but the giga Chad memes are far being used only for "making yourself a better person"

The worst part is the meme jokes were about Vin Diesel at first as well. They just got lazy changed to Chuck right at the time protonormies found the meme.

Let me see. http://web.archive.org/web/20130116194305/http://www.ammoland.com/2012/06/is-obama-creating-a-pro-gay-boy-scouts-of-america/#axzz2IAZ8fgio

TBH it was a pretty ass move for Obama to accept an anti-gay organisations honorary membership. The corruption seeps through.

And that Turley guy casually sitting with Putin. Yikes.

It is a whataboutism article. Any actor who does that in whatever manner is disgusting to me in a way. It gives signs of having a viscious personality.

Fuck Chuck Norris, Chuck Testa is better

[–] IndiBrony@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Nope. I mean yep!

[–] li10@feddit.uk 19 points 2 years ago

“Cool story, bro” is still a devastating comeback when used at the right time

OAGF seems alive and well, I see Lana post a lot on socials... she really leaned in that's for sure!

[–] sartalon@futurology.today 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah, for sure. I feel like she was one of the few that embraced it smartly. Not going all in, but but still capitalizing on its value without sucking it to cringe.

Milhouse is not a meme, but "Milhouse is not a meme" is a meme

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 4 points 2 years ago

Milhouse never dies. His suffering is eternal.

[–] HurlingDurling@lemm.ee 0 points 2 years ago

Because ralph is a better meme

Remember, Milhouse is not a meme
But "Milhouse is not a meme" is a meme

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

I met Scumbag Steve once!

[–] ProfessorProteus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Sad to see Gaijin 4koma missing, but maybe it was underappreciated even in its time.

Or maybe I'm just that old...

Weird seeing Damn Daniel, which came way after the golden age of impact memes, sitting next to these legends
