get a brother laser printer

Eyyyy! I got mine for $3 from a garage sale. I buy toner every couple of years.

I bought a color brother laser printer 3…almost 4 years ago. It still has the toner that came with it. We use it probably 1-3 times a week. Still going strong. Still plenty of toner left.

Colour laser printers aren't particularly good if you like to print photos and they are more expensive than inktank printers

It's better to get an ink tank printer that you can refill ink tanks with from bottles instead do dealing with proprietary cartridge garbage

Considering it comes from HP, yes.

To think that I'm actually a happy HP customer who's been using the same laser printer for 30 years.

Haven't bought any toner or fusers from them in the past 20 tho.

Obligatory never buy HP printers. Brother laser printers are a great alternative.

Brother laser for me to, I change the cartridge one every 3-5 years. Though I print like one every few months XD

[–] terminhell@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

That's the best part about toner- it's already dry. I would suggest taking out the toners once every few months to give em a good shaking. And maybe a self clean/calibration once every 6mo-1yr if printing low volumes. Though, it'll probably be fine if ya never do that either. Unless someone is doing photo prints often, ink printers are actually a scam. And the consumer drivers, especially HPs is becoming problematic.

HP's new printer ~~scam~~ sales tactic! If you don't buy ink right now we send a team of armed Pinkerton agents to your house. Extra PTSD for the whole family if you happen to have leaked cards from a board game.
