Not a fan of this video creator. If you watch enough of their stuff, you tend to notice a weird reactionary viewpoint to his ethos of film.

Just from the title, this seems like bullshit. Who doesn’t know what a film director does? They direct the way the film is created. It’s one of the most self explanatory titles in film.

A grip on the other hand…

the point is that people assume that the director does everything, and the director often gets all the praise or criticism for the quality of the film - even when it comes to stuff like writing, cinematography, editing, etc which are entirely different job titles. those roles are just as important but we often only hear the director's name - how many editors or DPs can the average moviegoer name?
