Summary

Veterans on Patrol, a far-right militia, believes Hurricane Helene was caused by a government weather weapon and plans to destroy it.

The group’s founder, Michael Meyer, has threatened the US military and accused them of spraying poisons on the American people.

VOP’s activities, rooted in anti-government and anti-immigrant beliefs, have drawn criticism from law enforcement and advocacy groups.

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Why would they run into trouble if it weren't real?!?

/s

[–] Hobbes_Dent@lemmy.world 12 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Is it baseless tho when an elected representative says it’s real?

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I think you need to start with establishing that said representative is actually real.

Yeah, they said that about birds, too. Still not convinced this isn't all some massively bad AI hallucination.

^(Please, PLEASE, PLEASE let this all be exactly that!!!)^

Attack the machines that exacerbated the hurricane? Sure, just head to your nearest car dealership or container port or oil processing facility. Be careful not to burn anything, as that will make the weather worse.

Don't forget the coal mines

And the airports

Extremely hot oceans and great lakes are causing mass rainfall events near them. If the US or Jews were using energy weapons, it wouldn't be against the US. Venezuela, Cuba, Palestine, Russia could be destroyed by daily local record rainfalls.

The global warming is not real therefore all climate disasters are US attacks, loses to oceans are boiling right now from global warming, and the US military would not need to attack US and allies in order to "fake" global warming.

Maybe Trump can promise them "no more hurricanes".

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Well duh, Trump said you can nuke the hurricanes when he was in office last time... Glad we want to hand those codes back to him.

[–] Archer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

People talk about nuking hurricanes so much NOAA has it as part of an FAQ on their site. The gist? It doesn’t work and would just make a hurricane more radioactive

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 1 points 42 minutes ago

NOAA, the organization that they plan to break up, downsize and commercialize sections such as it's forecasts.

PBS article about their plans: The National Weather Service should become a “performance-based organization” held accountable for achieving specific results, even if the head of the agency must “deviate from government rules” to achieve those results.

The document said little about the National Hurricane Center. It said the administration should “review the work of the National Hurricane Center” and that “data collected by the department should be presented neutrally, without adjustments intended to support any one side in the climate debate.”

_----- What is the climate debate? Oil companies agree their actions accelerate it... So the only debate would be, do our profits from accelerating harm to the world and the human race offset our best interest over theirs? Profits vs Human race & health of the Earth.

When we know there are usable alternatives that are being made more profitable daily. They also take away trade depdencies traversing oceans long term. We can gather all the energy we need within our own borders and assist other countries in doing so as well. Instead we put more oil executives in charge of our futures and wonder why we keep coming back to well, maybe we should use oil instead.

Everyone pro more oil is anti life. "Think of the kids" my ass, the only interest they have in kids is fucking them over.

But Republicans told me this Weather is NORMAL? Just like how Jan 6 which caused MILLIONS in Damage was a Nonviolent Violent Tourist Visit by ANTIFA where no one should have been arrested but ONLY MAGAS were for some reason.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 32 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Uh-oh, which side will Republicans choose?

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 38 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

You’re mistakenly employing critical thought where it otherwise would not exist.

It’s Biden’s fault until Trump fixes it, which will be whenever he claims it’s fixed.

It's like a giant switch, you just turn it and all the fresh water goes to LA instead of in the ocean, we could turn it in a day!

[–] Darkard@lemmy.world 24 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Why don't they just wait until Trump is sworn in and then he can use it to save America, right? Right?

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 1 points 2 hours ago

They don't trust Trump because he supported the Covid vaccines.

[–] IDKWhatUsernametoPutHereLolol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

You don't get it, Trump is part of the radical left!

"The group’s founder, Michael Meyer..."

I think I found your problem - might wanna check him for a hockey mask.

[–] miak@lemmy.world 11 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Sorry to be that guy, but the hockey mask was Jason Vorhees. Michael Meyers wore the Captain Kirk mask.

[–] SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world 3 points 4 hours ago

Huh. Shows how much of a horror movie fan I am. Thanks for the correction.

Wait. Captain Kirk mask? What a weird way to have a TIL moment. Thanks again!

[–] PyroNeurosis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 8 hours ago

Or a severely unsettling candy-cane stovepipe hat.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 6 points 9 hours ago

Next these morons are going to be storming our local pizza places.
