Tbf in the time between the death of the penultimate human and the last living human before we go extinct, technically global communism will have been achieved. This is what we mean when we say communism is inevitable.

I got that degree. I ended up not finding work in my field, going into a pretty dirty job, and eventually impressed someone who was shocked to find out I had a degree and got hired. I then did scientific consulting for years, occasionally using my specific degree but I spent a lot of time learning chemistry, construction, geology, field management, and any number of other skills. When I fully outgrew that line of work I was again fortunate to get a government job where I happen to use all the skills I've built along the way. The point is that it was very much not a straight line and only through continual learning and self improvement did I finally end up in a very good place. Keep swinging.
