The Lebanon ceasefire agreement requires Israeli troops to withdraw from south Lebanon and Lebanon's army to deploy in the region, officials say. Hezbollah would end its armed presence along the border south of the Litani River.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib said the Lebanese army would be ready to have at least 5,000 troops deployed in southern Lebanon as Israeli troops withdraw, and that the United States could play a role in rebuilding infrastructure destroyed by Israeli strikes.

Israel demands effective U.N. enforcement of an eventual ceasefire with Lebanon and will show "zero tolerance" toward any infraction, Defence Minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday.

I cannot find the image tracing the history of the fights between both where it shows that time and time again Isn'trael did not respect truces. They cannot be trusted, and the same can be said about the US.

Do you think Hezbollah are unaware of this?

Palestenians should get a nuke so that Israel would actually respect them.

Isrealis have proven that they cannot be trusted. They are buying time for a resupply and then they will try again. This is a ceasefire in the same way a white boy reloading a gun before continuing to shoot up a school is a ceasefire.

[–] Enjoyer_of_Games@hexbear.net 2 points 30 minutes ago

remember when they were trying to redefine ceasefire to "humanitarian pause" so that the very word would imply they would eventually resume.

Yes but this reprieve goes both ways, Hezbollah can use the break as well

And in the meantime Palistinians in gaza will continue to starve to death and excursions into the west Bank will continue to escalate. I wish Iran would take a more active role.

Every day I hope a covert Iranian kill team does the fucking needful on these war criminals.

While it seems like if all of the anti-Israel / US nations in the area would just coordinate and go all in it would be the quickest way to save the most Palestinian lives, at the same time Israel has nukes and is run by insane people. Any modern wars short of nuclear conflict are essentially wars of attrition, and Israel's overreach is leading to it's demise. Escalating with attacks from other nations gives Israeli more cover to justify their actions as self-defense, which goes a long way in propping up the narrative they and their allies continue to use to side step the "allegations" of the obvious war crimes and genocide they are committing. To be honest, Israeli is in a tight situation because they rely heavily on recruiting Jews from other places to voluntarily move there, and with their economy in shambles and ongoing troubles from all sides, many people are leaving Israel and few are deciding now is a good time to move there. I'm afraid to think that they will ramp up the genocide and try to beat the clock of eliminating all Palestinians before their economy and nation are irreparably harmed, but I also think they could already be there even if the reality hasn't set in yet. Hezbollah getting a few days or weeks to re-consolidate for the inevitable next round is a good thing, and surely the attacks from Israel will radicalize more people to join the resistance against them for the next wave. I don't know if the same can be said about Israeli, where troops are actually refusing to go fight and the world is turning against them.

this

They were getting stymied because they didn't think Hezbollah would be a viable threat

They just want to pull back to finish off Gaza before they try again

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

You think they can “finish off Gaza” in 60 days? Do you think Hamas are stupid or suicidal?

inshallah on the suicidal, same fate as every fascist regime. Still won’t help them in their colonization

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 11 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Hopefully it also gives Hezbollah time to rebuild and recover from the terrorist pager attacks, too. My only worry is Gaza and Yemen being left to fend for themselves during the genocide.

[–] JustSo@hexbear.net 6 points 3 hours ago

I wonder if Hezbollah fighters will relocate to neighboring fronts. Doesn't seem likely given their primary reason to exist is as a defensive deterrent force along the southern border, but I guess time will tell.

Pure projection. If any side is going to breach the ceasefire it'd be Israel.

[–] very_poggers_gay@hexbear.net 14 points 5 hours ago

Surely israel will be held to the same standard as Hamas, who according to zionists and liberals, granted israel permission to do genocide by breaching an alleged ceasefire on October 7th aware

[–] someone@hexbear.net 19 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

effective U.N. enforcement

Is it just my overly suspicious mind, or does that sounds like "NATO troops in Lebanon" to anyone else?
