Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1188 readers
19 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

As if we didn't already know. I didn't know being against businesses using slave labor counted as bigotry, though.

Everyone should know by now that you can't criticize China or Hezbollah, on lemmy.ml.

[–] ilost7489@lemmy.ca 35 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Or China, Russia, North Korea, or anything else that vaguely labels itself “communist”

[–] Comrade_Spood@slrpnk.net 25 points 4 months ago

Its not about them being labelled communist, all that matters to them is if they are against the west. Cause apparently only the west can be imperialist

[–] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 15 points 4 months ago

Russia is even funnier, given that they don't even do that anymore.

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Go ahead, smuglord.

Your stance serves the one that owns your platform, either way. (inb4 y'all defed)

Don't use .ml

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 18 points 4 months ago (4 children)

Do you have any source for that "fact?" Like, whatsoever?

I see, thank you. That provides important additional context that we're talking about a company using a shell company to employ people in shitty conditions, which is a valid criticism of international corporations of all countries.

Just DuckDuckGo "Chinese sweatshops". Lots of reading material. You can even find other countries as well!

Facts about what exactly? That there is slave labor in the world?

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 4 months ago

This thread has gone completely off the rails. Nobody is discussing whether the ban was deserved and instead there's only insults to the op, or arguments on who's worse USA or China. I'm locking this.

Please stick to judging whether they're mod action was deserved and not rehashing the talking points especially by flaming each other

[–] Lawn_and_disorder@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (4 children)

Seems you are confusing China and USA.

[–] Diva@lemmy.ml 18 points 4 months ago (1 children)

If it happens in US it's actually a privilege, not forced labor.

Characterizing prison work as forced labor is wrongheaded, he said, because most inmates who qualify for paid work earn that classification based on positive credits for behavior. “In other words, it’s a privilege,” he said, better than some of the other alternatives behind bars.

China doesn't have any and more of it? Hmm

[–] Diva@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 months ago (14 children)

The US actually has a higher prison population than China, both per capita and total despite having a fraction of Chinas population. I'm not in favor of forced labor or the carceral state in general.

When it's happening in the country I live in, it's going to be a slightly higher priority for me.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 3 points 4 months ago

The US actually has a higher prison population than China, both per capita and total despite having a fraction of Chinas population.

This is only true if you exclude Xinjiang concentration camps though.

But either way, it ain't a competition both states run a degeranged penal systems albeit targeting different undesirables. China focused on wrong think, US goes for poors and/or minorities.

The end goal is the same, keep the normie acting like a docile dog.

Probably slave labor both places.

[–] DoiDoi@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

The US has the largest prison population in the world and when measured per capita stands alone as a completely absurd outlier. A country that has legalized slavery if used as punishment for a crime. A country that has private prisons where the prisoners are used to make consumer goods, fight forest fires, and in some cases even work on farms classico style. There's no probably about it at all - the US facilitates enourmous amounts of slave labor and that's not even getting into the resource extraction from the global south that keeps the whole machine running.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 10 points 4 months ago

Neither Beijing nor Washington, but actually Washington very-intelligent

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

On one hand, it's ridiculous that campists just can't accept any criticism of their "aes". On the other hand, you don't have to go to the every posts about something positive happening in this hell world to remind that they suck but if you do, I hope you also do the same about positive happenings in the USA and EU or you're just a hypocrite.

Facts are bigotry

There's no facts in deleted post and on my guess there's no bigotry, it mostly looks like trolling or disinformation.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 2 points 4 months ago

its ml, any criticism of china will be censored

being banned there and .world news and politics subs is just normal part of any self respecting shit posters fedi career.

freedom enjoyers setting more communities on smaller servers as we speak. seek them out!

ml and world control too many big subs and they use them to censor opinions that dont fit their propaganda.

this sub exposes how pervasive mod miscondcut is, now we know, time to decentralized. let them keeo their echo chambers
