Fun game, although I thought the writing was sometimes a little marvel movie-ish compared to the last one.

I'm currently replaying the originals and I fucking hate them. I think i stomached them at the time cos there was nothing like it and they were brilliant showcases for ps2 hardware but practically every aspect of the game is tortuous. QTE the video game, so many annoying qtes rammed into everything, open a door? Qte. Do a finishing move? Several qtes. All with annoyingly narrow windows for failure as well. Alongside that the game has so many climb wall or traverse rope sections that limit you to 2 buttons and are always really long for no particular reason. I vaguely remember the psp games being largely the same recycled nonsense which at the time everyone was fed up with by the time ascension dropped which is why they it disappeared for a while and they rebooted it. If they released another game in the same style it would have been a commercial failure
I remember replaying it a few years later after its hayday and my god it was actually painful to play for extended periods of time, open the doors mash your thumb, kill an elite enemy, mash your thumb, watch a cutscene, mash your thumb. It's why whenever I can these days I just go to the accessibility options and turn on hold rather than mash.
Did you play the first of the new GoW? By what you write it seems you are surprised by the new type of gameplay but you shouldn't be, as the previous game was the same.
Anyway, I loved the first trilogy but I also like the new ones. I loved the gameplay and the cheesiness of the original trilogy. And the new saga has a really well made story and art direction... I like them both but I agree it's a totally different kind of game.
I didn't have any issues with the camera angle. Though I was playing on normal difficulty which gave me lots of room for errors.
Overall I liked that it was a narrative blockbuster kind of game. I enjoy those when the plot and voice acting and such are decent.
