Kennedy is reportedly planning to remove agency vaccine advisers, too.

Only silver lining is most of Blue America vaccinates so we'll see yet another drop in MAGAts dying (and young ones, this time!).

Bad news, tons of kids will get sick, become crippled, or die, plus anyone relying on herd immunity. Honestly even with all my hate for vaccine deniers, that collateral damage isn't worth all that.

More hosts to allow for mutations that screw everybody. Even if you want them dead, you should still want them vaccinated more.

Yup, that too. Harming you and yours just to let out anger is a right wing playbook, so obviously I'm not exactly celebrating.

I think flu shots protect the elderly more. So more govt savings on social security, and the next generation can be brought up as loyal trumpians.

He did say he was not going to stop you from getting vaccines. He's simply going to stop all funding for research, subsidies, and education concerning vaccines until the whole of public health collapses like a house of cards.

Vaccines are the best and sometimes only tool a provider has to prevent diseases of so many kinds. Nearly sixty years of medical science has proven that, but I guess we are going to learn the hard way.

We need to start blocking flights out of the US. This is not going to end well.

Yeah, that’s a great move. 🙄 Meanwhile, I saw a member of the Shaker community walking into Kroger with full blown measles rash.

I don’t keep up with the beliefs of primitive religious cults. I just know she was Shaker by how she dressed. We have Shakers, Mennonites, and Amish in my area. I know which ones I won’t be buying produce from going forward.

..but but but he said he wasn't against all vaccines in his sworn-testimony!!

Lying under oath in their conformation hearings is one of the many crimes Republicans just get to do because nobody with the power to do so ever hold them accountable.

For himself and his family. The rest of us are boned.

Is there any study or high-level calculation regarding the overall impact of vaccines on a country's economy? I mean, I'm 100% sure that this is a terrible decision that will bring a lot of pain and suffering to the US. I'm just thinking if there is at least a tiny bit of reasoning behind that decision. Like is there any perspective where this makes at least a tiny bit of sense from their point of view?

The only thing I can think of would be... 'If people die early, it saves money for their retirement.'

I would expect the costs for medical treatments, sick days, long term effects to outweight that by far...

Or do they hope that private companies start advertising vaccines once the government stops the funding?

Pretty sure that if workers are calling in sick less, the more productive and less disruptive it is for businesses. That's why many companies themselves provide yearly free flu shots to employees.

Doesn't this worm brain rotted fuck have a measles outbreak to worry about?

[–] Blaster_M@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago

Welp, that didn't take long.

[–] WhatSay@slrpnk.net 1 points 12 hours ago

Just get all your vaccines while you can, who knows how stable our healthcare will be by the end of the year

Someone needs to take him specifically out. Open-air death camps are a no-go.
