Yeah, that sucks, especially when you're in high school, and right after.
But after, when you get out the real world, that shit lessens, and you won't care.
Shit where do you work man? I need to get me one of those jobs, because, while I just keep to my own life, it seems the same shit goes on, because the assholes never really grow up. They just age. No matter where you go.
I'm an old man.
So, believe me when I say you just need to put yourself out there, in social spaces, and meet girls/boys face to face, and just be yourself. Don't put on a false face, a "front." Just be you.
It helps to go to places, or events, that coincide with your personality type.
Don't give up, don't take every rejection as a death sentence.
You can do this.
My experience after graduating from high school in 07 and college in 11 is that uh... no, the vast majority of odd jobs, part time jobs I worked till getting a 'real' job...
No, no, the vast majority of basically low wage workers are still mentally in high school, still acting just as immature, still being childish, rude and bullying people, still constantly seeking to create situations of petty drama, still pressuring people into hazing rituals.
Does not matter how old they are.
I've seen 45 year old men literally 'flex' on younger coworkers to assert dominance, like literally puff themselves up and flex to appear larger, while arguing with or belittling them.
Your advice is generally good advice, but it is far from guaranteed to ensure you will not be surrounded by immature buffoons, and ostracized when you do not partake in their foolishness.

God yes. The obnoxious, extroverted sales monkeys are a menace. We’re finally getting some new walls at our workplace so we can work in peace as non-sales, actually-doing-work employees.

And automotive repair, according to some of my friends.
Jobs with shitty cultures. Restaurants, bars, places where managers are like in their 20s, the owner and management team are "family", and HR is some random woman in her 50s who chain smokes.
Once I worked at a office job, everything was so much more chill and drama moved outside High School BS to real adult stuff, like whose doing cocaine on the boss's desk.
If you are as lucky as you and I who haven't really had a coworker who acted like this, there are assholes like this in workplaces.
Teenagers
Oddly enough that isn't quite my experience. I went to university immediately after finishing school and was pleasantly surprised at how civilized and mature everyone at university was, compared to just a few months ago at school, even though many of them were still teenagers. It's something about the environment of school that causes so many young people to behave awfully.
i suppose a large part of the misery of school is because most people who go there don't actually want to go there, so that sets it up as a place for suffering. which is different for universities, where most people who go there actually want to go there, which improves the climate by many orders of magnitude.

Something vaguely similar but kinda inverted, happened when I was in middle school.
An office assistant, like a TA, but for the main office, was dispatched to deliver a packet of course work papers to the class I was in.
The main office had the main, commercial grade printer in it, and this would have been like... 2004 ish? Computers were basically only in the computer lab, more primitive tech setup.
So anyway, the OA shows up and delivers the coursework to the teacher... and is confused by the complete silence in the room, the lack of anyone doing anything.
He remarked '... Did somebody die or something? Jeez' and was now met with many intense, silent stares... he quickly exited.
Completely unbeknownst to the OA... about 15 minutes prior, our teacher had just recieved an email, took aside one student, talked to him for a few minutes. That student then quickly talked with his friends for about a minute, eyes tearing up, getting several hugs, and then presumably left to the school counselor office.
His one or two grade older sister had just suffered a complete cardiac arrest in PE, out on the track, about 30-45 minutes prior to the email... and died.
Oh jesus
There is no authority like the authority of great victimhood. It's basically the modern equivalent of the scientific method.
Humans are highly social creatures, we desire social harmony over almost anything else.

NGL, this greentext actually made me smile cause I'm a terrible person. Likely not real, but real talk, I love to bring a room to a very dark place as a joke with my friends, though, especially since I deal with a lot of scary topics in psych and politics and usually use it as a way to bring to real topics. Weirdly gets people to open up about their real traumas too, for some reason.
Plus it's friends, so you know, very different context lol

If that was a lie it's pretty gross to use other people's trauma as a prop.
Knowing how few CSA victims actually speak out relative to how common it is (1 in 4 to 1 in 10 depending on source) I would usually assume someone's being honest about it. Despite it being absolutely life ruining and an incredible up hill battle to recover from there is little recognition publicly for it.
tbf, next time the guy tries to make fun of someone for being a virgin he'll think twice about it because of that interaction, and who knows maybe that will spare a person who actually went though something like that from having to feel awful
in this situation, despite being in poor taste, the lie could've actually done some good in the long run

honestly I appreciate the use of this story. it takes guts to say it, true or not, and really no one should be ridiculed for being a virign. there are a lot of real people out there with the same exact story.
