Looking at the downvotes it is clear that liberals would tolerate genocide but not criticism of their dear leader or of the party.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 5 points 5 days ago

That would require them to admit they'd also been hoodwinked. And some people just can't tolerate admitting their failures.

Confirming what most of us, except the diehard Democratic Party fans, knew. It was obvious it didn’t need an admission. You don’t send bombs to Israel, move aircraft carriers to threaten anyone who might intervene, and threaten to sanction the ICC if you were truly pursuing ceasefire.

Would this stop the liberal-hate towards those who took the moral high ground and stayed home or voted third party? Probably not. But it is our fault for ever expecting good to come out of them.

The Democratic Party is shit, and they did all kinds of wrong to Palestine. But did not voting make it any better for Palestine? No. Worse? Possibly. Economy? Worse. Human rights? Worse. International relations? Worse. Ukraine? Worse. Authoritarianism and fascism? Worse. Corruption? Worse. General fucking common sense and decency? Worse. And the list goes on. The hate is not because of compassion for Palestine. The hate is because NOTHING has improved for Palestine, a whole lot of other things has gotten significantly worse, and this was entirely predictable.

It is amazing that you can excuse genocide. If they not just allowed a genocide to happen but enabled it and protected Israel from consequences what makes you trust them on anything else?

[–] 4am@lemm.ee 4 points 5 days ago (3 children)

It is amazing how you can justify your complicity in the genocide by purity testing the only party that you had a chance of getting to listen to you.

The Democrats are feckless little bitches and Joe Biden has been a racist Zionist piece of shit his entire life. Kamala Harris laughed funny and didn’t stand up to her boss while campaigning for his job, but maybe would have listened or at least been milder in her support than what you allowed to happen.

We literally have double-Hitler now (Trump+Netanyahu).

So, maybe look deep into your soul and realize that the “we just needed to vote harder” performative lib shit you are doing has been the fucking problem the entire time. Jillistein.

I have proof that Kamala Harris wouldn't have been any better: https://www.opensecrets.org/industries/summary?cycle=All&ind=Q05&recipdetail=S

the only party that you had a chance of getting to listen to you.

that's been proven to be false over and over again:

it was really cool when the Congressional Democrats gave ICC arrest warrant for genocide Netanyahu roughly 59 standing ovations when he came to Congress back in July

sorry were you making an actual point or no?

maybe would have listened or at least been milder in her support than what you allowed to happen.

this sentence is about Trump, right? there's no fucking way you believe this about Harris

[–] skvlp@lemm.ee 0 points 5 days ago

That you falsely attribute such horrific views and sentiments to me is disingenuous and a truly shitty thing to do. You’re doing nothing but dissuade me from engaging on the subject. Just so you know.

Which was something Blinken suggested back in October 2023. It was covered in Arabic media maybe it was overlooked in US and European media.

[–] frogbellyratbone_@hexbear.net 2 points 5 days ago

But did not voting make it any better for Palestine?

there's ZERO difference in the policy. Trump at least got the temporary ceasefire deal done, no matter how temporary. And Trump saying the quiet part out loud is pissing a lot of people off and waking more and more people up about the issue.

Economy?

the economy has been FUCKED since 2008. it NEVER recovered. we really really really need to stop conflating the "economy" with the stock market. we aren't billionaires. ffs.

Human rights? / International relations?

depends tbh. i don't think the US becoming a pariah state is necessarily a bad thing. perhaps people will stand up against US supported/funded genocide more? other atrocities the US supports/does regularly as well.

complaining about human rights abuses within US borders is way too hypocritical for me. don't complain when your exported totalitarianism that you supported/ignored comes home. i fucking tried to you stupid liberals they'd bring it home and turn it against you.

General fucking common sense and decency?

jfc... optics above everything else? Biden and Trump are both did/doing genocide. Biden was better though because he was more polite about it?????? sorry but fuck off

[–] toast@retrolemmy.com 1 points 5 days ago

We all knew that Trump would be awful, which makes it so terrible that Biden & Harris chose genocide over winning the election. Apparently, it was that important to them.

No Biden staffer in that article admitted to anything other than Netanyahu being the obstruction. A Netanyahu former ambassador said "they never said 'ceasefire, now'" and that's all the article is based on. Please use better sources.

[–] PanArab@lemm.ee 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

There’s nothing wrong with Mondoweiss, you are just too propagandized to accept the truth of what Israel is doing and the US’s complicity.

Anyways here an alternative source: https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/aoc-dnc-speech-gaza/

[–] Oni_eyes@sh.itjust.works 0 points 5 days ago

Oh the only thing wrong with that source is that it sensationalized the headline with no supporting evidence in its own writing.

[–] PanArab@lemm.ee 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

If Biden didn’t work towards a ceasefire deal as the Israeli source confirms, what’s your objection to Mondoweiss? How about instead you show us the proof that he did? Or explain why would Blinken suggest sanctioning the ICC?

[–] Oni_eyes@sh.itjust.works -1 points 5 days ago

The Isreal source didn't say they weren't working towards a ceasefire, they said they didn't demand a ceasefire. Sovereign nations do not usually demand behavior change in other countries, they negotiate to have that behavior changed.

Which is why Trump making demands without negotiation has alienated a bunch of the US allies.

[–] Doom@ttrpg.network 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Someone didn't read their own article. Classic.

[–] PanArab@lemm.ee 0 points 4 days ago

You clearly haven't. Do you need the article spoon-fed to you? It is a common troll tactic to claim what you've claimed and it works, you have elicited a response.

Some key quotes, the entire article is worth reading:

Perhaps the most damning statement came from former Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Herzog, who said, “God did the State of Israel a favor that Biden was the president during this period, because it could have been much worse. We fought [in Gaza] for over a year, and the administration never came to us and said, ‘ceasefire now.’ It never did. And that’s not to be taken for granted.”

It all paints a very clear picture of Biden going out of his way, enduring humiliations and insults, even breaking U.S. law and violating his own orders to facilitate a genocide in Gaza. It comes as little surprise that figures like Sullivan seemed to feel no regret, much less remorse, over allowing Netanyahu to run roughshod over them. The lack of concern about Palestinian lives is palpable here.

The importance of these confirmations was underlined by a very simple tweet from Rep. Ilhan Omar. She shared the Dropsite News report on the Hamakor interviews and commented, “We all knew they weren’t working tirelessly on a ceasefire and it was all a lie.”
