I don't really think they do anything to undermine communists in the US. They have no influence or reputation outside of their weird little circle.
I think they provide libs a "the tankies" to misdirect baby leftists into turning away from communist organisers. It takes longer for people shown these patsocs to come around to real communists because they get shown them and told "this is what communists believe" and then dismiss ever looking into communism.
I can see how that's possible, I just don't think it's happening in any meaningful numbers. They don't have an on the ground presence anywhere, so all they is battle for attention from a little subsection of online leftists.

I don't agree. You're saying the same thing that the Democrats say about the Democratic party. Democrats say to let right wingers into the party and then Republicans will lose their base. What actually happens? Democrats move further to the right.
Magacommunists and patsocs are not communists or even left wing. They call themselves communist but they agree with every right wing policy. Magacommunists made up their own theory that the real proletariat is farm owners, not even the farm workers. They think that the petit bourgeoisie is the real proletariat. They are also anti-LGBT. They want the US to annex Canada, they said this before Trump did, weirdly.
If anything, ACP takes people who are interested in Communism and then puts them onto right wing ideology. They exist to disrupt left wing movements.
