As someone who actually lives in Texas this is such awesome news. Eveyone kept saying oh just leave the state! No...fuck that. We need MORE like-minded people to stay and vote these Maga idiots out of office. Texas will prob never be fully blue. But I'll take a purple Texas over the direction it was headed any day.

Honestly, this gives me hope. I live in a red state and I've always heard the "leave the state" argument, but it's my state too! I also see people getting tired of the same old rhetoric from the magats and I couldn't be happier.

Thank Fuck. Finally an ounce of good news coming out of what has been an absolutely sithole of a state lately. And this is coming from someone who has lived there their whole life. Now if this keeps up and midterm elections go the same way I won't look for any excuse to leave for the sake of my future family.

Every time MAGAts lose the world is a better place.

Yes, more of this, please.

If Texas can do this, anyone can.

No Simba! You must never go to Florida!

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 1 points 46 minutes ago (1 children)

Especially Florida.

Never underestimate the power of snowbirds.

[–] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 2 points 37 minutes ago (1 children)

I know quite a few very wealthy snowbirds. None of them are pleased with this presidency. Hope their influence can do something to make a change

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 1 points 32 minutes ago

I hope so too.

This whole administration is hitting them in the wallet, and coupled with the insurance hassles of their second or third home being threatened by insurance companies pulling out due to climate change, they’re starting to feel it.

Fascism won’t help most of them, and it’s already starting to hurt. Florida relies on their money, and it’s already on life support.

Boo fucking hoo.

The Tarrant County GOP went 0-for-11 in the county’s three largest cities: Fort Worth, Arlington, and Mansfield. Let that sink in. They didn’t just lose a few races. They got shut out entirely.

Good shit, Texas!

For once, I'm not utterly ashamed to be born in this wretched fucking state!

I might feel some pride again if we vote out Abbot!

[–] JPAKx4@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 hours ago

Not until Paxton is dead, buried, and pissed on. Not necessarily in that order

[–] Bosht@lemmy.world 9 points 1 hour ago

Fucking Amen dude. Recently saw a clip about the 'F.U.R.R.I.E.S.' act. Jesus Christ Texas gov is a disgrace. Hoping this is the beginning of shit turning around.

Literally EVERY ELECTION in My Republican Haven of Texas was FAKE and CORRUPT because of the DEMONRATS! EXCEPT for Whichever ones we Won! I CANT READ so I SKIPPED the Article but Any we LOST is due to CHEATING and any we WON is FAIR!

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 8 points 2 hours ago

Yes Mr President. Good point Mr President. Here's a diet coke and a burger. Let me put on OANN for you. Can I fluff anything for you?

[–] SJSmith@lemmy.world 67 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

More of this please! Keep it up folks! This needs to happen everywhere!

[–] Binky@lemmy.sdf.org 26 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Agreed. If we want to fix this country, we’re going to need to swing super-majorities away from the GOP. Our next President needs to be committed to the goal of restricting the power of the Executive Branch. We’ll need a congress that makes checks and balances clearer.

[–] almost1337@lemm.ee 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Do we need to restrict the power of the executive branch? Definitely. I believe that if the next President isn't conservative they should prioritize first undoing all the batshit craziness of the current administration, pack the Supreme Court, then lock things down so runaway executive power can't happen again.

I love this. Keep going. ☺️
