One of the bars by me has a DND group in the back.

There's a "community center" also near me that lets people hang out in the basement, and there are rpg groups that meet there

Monday nights down one of the quieter pubs in town for my local group.

It depends a lot of where you are.

If it helps, at least in the UK, a lot of country pubs will let you rent a side room/back room for free, or close to it. They rely on getting you in and drinking and buying food.

Pub was my first thought too. Likely to be pretty quiet on a Sunday evening, and they'll be very happy to have a table of paying customers for several hours.

That sounds really nice. I used to play (modern) board games in a cafe, and it was ok. I'd feel weird with some themes in a public space. A semi public place sounds great.

It can be a good balance. It's private enough not to have random people just gawking at you, but public enough to meet new people, who might be interested. Easy access to drinks and bar food is a very nice bonus.

Why in public?

Some people play in bar/cafe(or some bar are more humer friendly) but ideally game shop or rpg club renting a dedicated space are teg way to go

@Ziggurat tell me you didn't read the article without telling me you didn't read the article

To be fair, in the lemmy interface this looks like a text post with a random neocities link included, as opposed to a link post. Also, the url is just for page 75 of that site, which nothing is inherently wrong with it, but it doesn't really give context clues to what the link has to do with the question.
