I can smell this pic.

[–] Novice_Idiot@lemmy.wtf 76 points 16 hours ago

Don't tolerate this. Confront him, make him feel bad and major clear he's not welcome.

This is the sort of American tourist that makes me feel deeply embarrassed when I visit other countries

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 18 points 13 hours ago

Probably neither a tourist nor American

[–] fishy 6 points 15 hours ago (3 children)

That's why I generally introduce myself as a Californian to foreigners, slightly less to be ashamed of.

[–] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 hours ago

Just say you are from New Hampshire with a cockney accent.

[–] PlaidBaron@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago

I hate to break it to you but most people outside of America do not differentiate that much between what state you come from.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

I wished that worked for being a New Jerseyan, but people mostly just make mob and guido jokes.

We do love our deli meat though, so that one’s largely accurate.

Better than being from Florida!

I can think of nothing less metal.

[–] SchwertImStein@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

I really hope it was a really poor taste joke

[–] tired_n_bored@lemmy.world 95 points 20 hours ago

I think he'll get punched in the face, as customary for nazis attending Metalfests

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 16 points 16 hours ago

There are Indian MAGAs too. Complete with Fox-News talking points.

[–] WereHacker@lemmy.ml 56 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Remember a gathering of people is a nazi rally if a nazi is clearly visible and is getting away with it.

[–] SchwertImStein@lemmy.dbzer0.com -5 points 17 hours ago (3 children)

Europe does not care about american politics as much as americans like to think we do. Not everyone associates trump with nazi instantly. I do not want to attribute to being a nazi something that can be explained by willingness to make an extremely crass joke.

[–] BossDj@lemm.ee 39 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

He is rounding up people of a particular color using a paramilitary masked police force and without a trial sending them to a prison in another country that, for years, has been reported on as torturing and killing its prisoners

[–] SchwertImStein@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

95% of people in Europe would not be able to tell you what ICE in the us is, nor what it does right now.

[–] BossDj@lemm.ee 18 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

My comment was meant to be informative to that end. I read (or maybe misread) your comment as implying that Americans are overreacting by calling him a Nazi, while I think it an apt comparison and that they are literally and intentionally using the Nazi playbook every step of the way.

[–] SchwertImStein@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 15 hours ago

oh, you are not overreacting

[–] cabillaud@lemmy.world 5 points 14 hours ago

The guy may not even speak English lol

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 11 points 16 hours ago

He's also trying to exterminate trans people

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 10 points 15 hours ago

That's not true in my experience. General rule of thumb in the places I've lived and visited seems to be everyone cares about their own politics and American politics.

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago

Sadly, the Trump effect isn't a thing in Europe. He's a fascist, by the way.

[–] MeisterLemmpe@lemmynsfw.com 41 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

In my experience, there are always a fuckton of rightwing extremists at metal festivals...

[–] SchwertImStein@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

maybe american ones? in europe you need to be really tone deaf to not realise that most bands are progressive af

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 3 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

Are you kidding? Europe is the home of Nazi metal. Like the sickest fucks are all European, it’s huge there somehow.

Before even listening to a European metal band I’ve gotta Google them to make sure they’re safe.

[–] SchwertImStein@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 hours ago

You must listen to the wrong kind of metal

[–] MeisterLemmpe@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I am in Europe. I had a lot of unpleasant experienced at metal festivals with people I can only describe as Nazi. Genres like viking metal seems to speak to those guys. Caveat: To old to go to (a lot of) festivals nowadays.

[–] x00z@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

Too old? I don't know this term.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 25 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

I have seen this before. Complete with USA-built truck. I cannot fathom how people in Europe do this. Sure, we* happily lap up every bit of American culture we can get our hands on, but this makes me question that person's sanity.

[–] darvocet@infosec.pub 8 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Even in America someone like this makes us question their sanity.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 7 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Sure, but at least it makes sense inasmuch as you can actually vote for the turd.

[–] darvocet@infosec.pub 2 points 14 hours ago

Fair enough

[–] cabillaud@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

I bet he doesn't even speak English
