I've seen a few bands, but only tagging along with friends, never seen anyone I actually like. Tbh I'm not a big fan of live music anyway. There's something about it not being 100% the same as I'm used to that just makes me not like it as much.

Death Cab for Cutie is my favorite by far. I’ve seen them live 4 times.

I’ve also seen their frontman perform solo twice, and once more with his other project the Postal Service.

I've seen The Cat Empire thrice, back when they were my favourite band.

[–] toomanypancakes@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh Cat Empire has some super fun tunes! I bet they put on a good show.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 3 points 3 days ago

Fantastic! Long improvisational breaks you don't get on the albums. There's plenty of full shows on YouTube.

Stephin Merritt / The Magnetic Fields, and never.

They've come through town several times, it's just never worked out.

[–] toomanypancakes@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Aw, that's brutal! Hopefully you'll get a chance soonish that works out :)

British Prog Metal legends Haken!! I've seen them only twice now, but they're simply incredible.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago

Pulp, twice, but they've only been in my country twice. 17 years apart.

[–] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 days ago

Hiatus Kaiyote, by far and away, it isn't even close.

I don't go to concerts lots so zero.

Delain is probably my fave band, but I've only gotten the chance to see them once (I did get a picture with them though!) It was a hell of a show, with Xandria and Edge of Paradise. Great performances, and it was at a smaller venue so I got to be right up by the stage. It was so much fun.

A bit weirdly, my second favorite Nightwish I've seen like four times. I've liked them since I was around fourteen though, so I guess maybe not that weird.

I haven't been to a show in over 25 years, but I saw Yes three times, Elton John three times, Prince twice, but Pink Floyd only once, all at the peaks of their popularity in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

[–] nuzzle5504@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 days ago

Starve from Melbourne. Been to almost every show

Say Anything, that band basically kept me alive through my teens and 20s, I got to see them live and Max Bemis the lead singer grabbed my hand and got me to sing a part of the song, best fucking moment of my life.

That was the moment I knew I wasn't 100% straight, he could have had me that night.

Alabama 3. I saw them lots of times in little pub venues and playing non-main stages at festivals in the mid to late 90's.

Blew my mind when I went to live in the US in 1999, put the TV on, and one of their tracks turned out to be the opening theme tune to this relatively new show called The Sopranos.

World/Inferno Friendship Society by far, must have seen them 10-15 times in the NYC/NJ area. Averaged 1-2 times a year up until the lead singer passed away 4 years ago (RIP CLOTH). Their live show was kind of a intense mix of dancing, moshing, singing along and just kind of letting loose. The fans sort of created an entire community around the band and we'd recognize each other from all the other shows we've been to together. Their annual halloween show (Hallowmas) was always the highlight, the band would go all out with live show spectacles both on and off the stage.

I still go to plenty of other live shows, at the moment have leaned into folk punk bands. Apes Of State and Escape From the Zoo are some of my current favorites maybe seen them 4-5 times now.

Cursive I've seen them 5 times. Two of them one day after the other. Broken chords have never sounded so beautiful.

[–] Yeromon@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 3 days ago

I would say femtanyl. It's also the only one I have seen live. I'm really hoping there will be another Europe tour because I doubt I will be able to go to North America anytime soon.

It's hard to pick one favorite because I have so many. If I had to pick one it'd be Collide but I haven't seen them live. However, I've seen Garbage four or five times so far and that's not enough.

I have a bunch of stuff from Collide though. My name is on 2-3 of their albums, and I have their hand written lyrics and notes to the song they wrote for Underworld 4

Carbon Based Lifeforms. I haven't, I doubt I ever will since crowds ruin music for me.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I saw CBL in London about a year ago, it was a pretty chill crowd FWIW

[–] susi7802@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 days ago

Haendel’s Messiah. I have seen it live a dozen times, never fails to impress.

[–] mycatscool@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Tough question but I'd say ODESZA is my favourite band. Never seen them live though!

I think the band I have seen most live is The Aggrolites, maybe 4 times.

[–] wingsfortheirsmiles@feddit.uk 3 points 3 days ago

My fave artist, Borusiade, is quite niche and arguably their style of music had it's peak in the electronic scene around 2017-21 so it'll be a long shot to see them now sadly.

Аркона! 7 times (almost every time they’ve been to the US)
