And I cast that wish at level 9

Well no duh. It's a level 9 spell. Can't cast it lower than that.

[–] noxypaws@pawb.social 15 points 2 days ago (6 children)

Agree with antifascist stuff. Just nitpicking the fascist idiot's idiotic words: what the hell is an example of a non-politically-motivated assassination?? isn't every assassination politically motivated?

[–] neons@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Financially-motivated assassinations? Having someone killed before they can disown you?

isn’t every assassination politically motivated?

We can go further and describe everything we do and every way in which we interact with others as "politically motivated" because politics is literally just dealing with someone else. If there were two people left on earth, there would be politics. If there was only one person left, there would finally be no politics.

And that's my platform when I run: no more politics 2028! lets gooooo!

[–] noxypaws@pawb.social 3 points 2 days ago

Honestly yeah. My understanding of politics is power dynamics, which is just built into everything

Often, I think being an important person or person in position of power is an important factor that makes it different than just a murder.

Ever say "Fuck Nazis" and some fuck face goes "Of course you would make fun of conservatives you lib!".

Wonderful feeling.

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 56 points 3 days ago

In my experience they never get it. It is fun to make fun of them. Once they reveal themselves, they become very predictable and even when called out as to how they will respond, they do it anyway like an npc.

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 53 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Um, actually Wish is always cast at level 9.

[–] shoo@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Um acktshually you can cast Limited Wish as a 7th level in Pathfinder 🤓

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 14 points 2 days ago

Um, actually Limited Wish is not Wish.

[–] bss03@infosec.pub 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The old 3.5e Epic Level Handbook had 10th level spells, and the rules surrounding their use.

So, maybe you could use a 10th level spell slot to stengthen Wish?

I haven't played D&D this century, and the last Pathfinder I ran was lower level and we only did 1 or 2 actual play sessions before scheduling fell apart. (Also, I'm a pretty bad DM, even working from an existing published campaign; people just want me to be GM because I can remember rules.)

EDIT: 10th 11th and 12th.

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

As of this month I am 31 years clean from D&D. And even I knew that wish is always cast at level 9.

[–] AccountMaker@slrpnk.net 140 points 3 days ago (6 children)

Yeah this happened once during the 2020 July protests in Serbia. As we walked, we passed a WW2 memorial and the guy leading the group took a moment to stop, comment on it and chant "death to fascism" a few times. Then out of the blue two guys started yelling "death to communism".

To be fair, "death to fascism, freedom to the people" is a communist slogan known by everyone from ex-Yugoslavia, but getting triggered by someone disavowing fascism right next to a statue that shows how fascists murdered civilians in raids in your own city is... worrying.

[–] Corn@lemmy.ml 44 points 3 days ago (7 children)

Weird how every anticommunism turns out to be fascism putting on a performance for libs.

For some reason there seems to be this idea that everything must either be fascist or communist or somewhere between. Like they don't believe in the existence of other political philosophies.

They're obsessed with the political spectrum being one-dimensional, it isn't.

Not by accident, Serbia is like the MAGA lovin' south of Europe, complete with the ignorant meat-heads gargling Putin's balls.

"Politically motivated assassinations"? Should we bring up the comparative list of politically-motivated extremist incidents in the US and see which side is enacting most of the violence?

[–] uuldika@lemmy.ml 71 points 3 days ago (1 children)

"politically motivated assassinations?" like the two Democratic politicians who were just murdered yesterday in Minnesota?

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 25 points 3 days ago (1 children)

No no, that's like school shootings in the USA, part of their apolitical culture!

Including the ones in Minnesota today?

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 22 points 3 days ago (5 children)

The Minnesota ones are particularly interesting. The Democrats had a one-seat advantage in both chambers of the Minnesota legislature. The assassin specifically targeted one Democratic member of each chamber. The Minnesota House is now tied, and the Senate will be tied until Hoffman is able to work or (or Minnesota allows it, I'm not sure) is about to designate someone to vote for him.

I like how it's "politically motivated assassinations" while graffiti on a Tesla is terrorism.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 52 points 3 days ago (1 children)

"I cast that wish at level 9" is a weird phrasing. So far as I know Wish is already level 9, so there's no other level to cast it at. Older editions had "limited wish" but I don't believe they had upcasting. It feels very "how do you do fellow children"

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 32 points 3 days ago (3 children)

It's kinda "fellow kids" but also a lot people don't know the rules of the games they play.

This one's a fascist tho, so fuck them.

[–] Lv_InSaNe_vL@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

DnD is also a game that utilizes table rules pretty much all the time. It's possible that his DM gave more flexible rules, I know my DM will if you have a convincing argument.

But also, buddy definitely says "you're one of the good ones" to his black coworkers

Blue checkmark checks out.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 69 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Sam's a real one. The whole group are, but of them all, Sam's the one I'd least want to go toe to toe with in an argument.

Dude's sharp as fuck.

All they ever do is “No, u…!”

Haven't had an original thought since 1936.

"I cast that wish at level 9" I had to check the context to make sure that was a DnD thing and not some bizarre sovcit trend.

[–] Quetzalcutlass@lemmy.world 84 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (4 children)

It's also already a ninth level spell, so saying he'll cast it at level nine is meaningless and a failed attempt to establish nerd cred.

Can't cast Wish @ level 9. Gotta be at least level 17. Git good newb
