Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

I honestly think nothing with Israel or Russia would be different under Harris right now, save for the way the rhetoric is presented.

Libs would be scolding about holding “the first black female president” to an “unreasonable standard” and something about the left being the true racists of the country.

"Sure, Kamala is sending us to another endless war in the Middle East, but Trump would've caused us to all die in a nuclear war!"

“It’s not just her, there’s too many corporate democrats in the party! I hate them too, but don’t worry, we will primary them out!”

votes for the exact same people in the primary

the bourgeoisie don't let the president decide something as important as foreign policy

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Except the current president is literally the bourgeoisie.

[–] SovietBeerTruckOperator@hexbear.net 19 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

What president hasn't been bourgeoisie?

Trump is a bit weird in that he seems to have actual impulses that are purely his own though.

True but they were at least middle men to the ultra elite before. That middleman has been cut out. But fair point.

i think that harris would have started air strikes by now

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 18 points 3 weeks ago

Honestly think it would be worse but only because trumps ego is temperamental

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 11 points 3 weeks ago

There wouldn't even have been a month and half long ceasefire

80+% of Dem voters were against what Israel was doing, but Kamala was Pro All Things Israel until something like 2 days before the election (and even then, her position only 'changed' to some milquetoast bullshit)

They don't care

[–] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 31 points 3 weeks ago

you may not like it, but this is what peak democracy looks like

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 38 points 3 weeks ago

Democracy is the ritual act of voting and nothing else.

The idea that once elected the officials might be beholden to the whim of the electorate? That's actually not democratic. That's populist. Or something. It's bad. Maybe eastern European. Or Asian. Chinese in particular. Or maybe it's an archipelago? Gulag? Perestroika? Glasnost. Appeasement? Hitlerian? It's bad or whatever.

16% think its a good idea.

Like 64% think its a bad idea but would probably be down for it if it popped off anyway.

100% of those respondants are likely convinced that the war will have no material impact on them regardless

[–] Grapho@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I hope they're very wrong. Maybe they'll stop treating their fucking thugs like a nuisance issue for us browns to deal with while they discuss how to fairly divide the spoils of empire. Maybe once it costs them dearly.

16% of this country is deranged

[–] BadTakesHaver@hexbear.net 21 points 3 weeks ago

I want the US to join the Israel-Iran war on the side of Iran and I'm not sorry about it

[–] halfpipe@hexbear.net 18 points 3 weeks ago

It's amazing how the same fucking Democratic leadership is repeating every mistake they made with supporting the Iraq war.

Somehow Trump is the only one in power who seems to understand what a stupid idea it is.

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 15 points 3 weeks ago

Democrats could support the 84% who dont want the war, but instead they think goading Trump with TACO bullshit will help more.

Maybe the grand plan is to get a few carriers sunk to blame on Trump just before midterms?

[–] D61@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

For every five liberal anti-war voter we lose, we'll picked up three... two... maybe even one liberal pro-war voter in the mid-terms. good-morning
