If we are able to see lemmy.ml posts in lemmy.world We should be able to make comments on the post.

Making a new post should be for registered members.

I think 'having to register and switching acc' is one of the reasons why people are not interacting as much as they could.

Would be nice if devs answered as well.

Cheers.

Edit: you guys are right. I'm on liftoff and I can add an instance without having an account and browse it but when I have to make an comment it asks for account ; I thought liftoff is looking for the same post in another instance ( which may not have all the comments) But all it needed was an account.

Sorry guys I'm still wrapping my head around fediverse.

You can already do that. That's one of the basic features of Lemmy. For example, my account is not from lemmy.world, but I can comment here. Looking on your profile, you've also already commented on lemmy.ml posts.

And I am from eben another instance and can also comment here. But I could also create a new post in other instances without the bed for an account there

[–] sigmaklimgrindset@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And here I am from a different instance than both of you and OP replying to your comments!

I think OP is a bit confused, but they’ve got the spirit.

[–] pruwybn@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

And I am commenting from yet a fourth instance!

[–] Extrasvhx9he 4 points 1 year ago

Do i hear 5 instances?

[–] Max_P@lemmy.max-p.me 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And a fifth, complete nobody instance! It's almost like you can just slap Lemmy on a server and you can immediately join in the fun everywhere!

Yall we are on 8 now....

[–] bullshitter@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Oh man, I have 5 different accounts now. I did this because when I started on lemmy hexbear had some shit going on which led me to believe one needs to be registered and what not. Uffff , Maaan do I feel stupid now.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 3 points 1 year ago

You're not stupid. This federation thing is confusing to everyone when they first encounter it. Still confusing to a lot of us months later.

Don't blame yourself buddy. We all gotta learn somehow

[–] tja@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Yes, there are instances who block other instances. These two then are not federated and you would need accounts on both

[–] AlmightySnoo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

OP's post is so cute, it reminds me of Lemmy 5 months ago when the Reddit exodus happened 🥹

[–] iso@lemy.lol 6 points 1 year ago

Username checks out lol

[–] Chozo@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

You can already do that. Unless you're banned from that instance.

Hello from the Brazilian Lemmy instance!

[–] phorq@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Pretty sure my comment is visible, but please let me know otherwise (airtight plan over here...)

[–] zkfcfbzr@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What does this comment say? It isn't showing up for me 🙁

[–] zeograd@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

where did my password leak!?

[–] user224@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 year ago

Hey! That's my password! Don't share it.

[–] user224@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 year ago

Well, you should be able to.
Maybe lemmy.world had some technical difficulties.
My home instance had issues with outgoing federation for 2 days after upgrading to 0.19.0-rc.x, though that's expected since 0.19 is still very much experimental.

[–] owatnext@aussie.zone 2 points 1 year ago

Hello from aussie.zone

[–] squiblet@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

You can make a comment on posts from federated communities, from the instance on which you have an account. If you view that instance directly, you won't be signed in, though, as it's a separate website.
