Arguably, Linux is developed mostly by big corporations. They just don't own it.

Pretty sure most of Windows isn't coded at the HQ, either

Yep, the Linux Foundation's reports show that ~70% of kernel contributions come from devs paid by companies like Red Hat, Intel, and Google - but the distributed nature and open governance is whats really revolutionary comapred to traditional corporate software.

I think you mean the userland, but even then big corporations are not that involved. I am struggling to see where you are coming from.

Nope, kernel developers are mainly paid by corporations.

Still struggling, getting paid does not equal big corporations developing.

Edit: After thinking some more I think what you mean is big companies contribute.

Linux should just show the earth, since it's being developed all over the world at all times.

Linux is not what people think it is, why people have to eat. It's people getting paid working for bug companies to code Linux. Why do you think red hat has do much pull in the direction of Linux.

Why are Linux, Windows uppercase? Where is macOS? Why is iOS lowercase?

[–] Ecobot@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

They're all have the same size. The name of iOS, as you can see, originally written in lowercase lol. Why are you even notice this? Apple fanboy or some..?

[–] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Call me a grammar fanboy. In fact “why are you even notice” is also shit grammar.

[–] Ecobot@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 week ago

Firstly: I'm not a native english speaker, so ofc i don't write as well as you do. Secondly: I don't think brand names are even related to grammar. This is more about loyalty.
