They’ve also been sandbagging negotiations for the last 9 months, the union today is on a march, no strike action yet.

Corporations: We fully support the right for workers to unionize!

Workers: Oke we’re gonna unionize

Corporations: No no no we meant like when workers unionize at our competitors…

They don't even like that much since it means they have to compete more for labor, raise their wages and benefits or risk losing talent or having them unionize.

Yeah true.

My favorite are the cases of startups vowing to be an ‘ethical’ company, but lo and behold once they reach to the point of having shareholders with vested interests, that ethics goes out the window.

But it forces their competitors to have to spend more on wages and working conditions, than themselves, allowing eBay to make larger profits

I was buying from ebay because I didn't want to support Amazon. Now what?

Boycotting can actually hurt the union, if market conditions suddenly worsen, it doesn’t matter if it’s because of boycotts or market conditions, it takes away some of their leverage. So I wouldn’t stress it too badly.

Organizing your own workplace and participating in solidarity events if you’re able are good things to do to help. eBay’s union has a Twitter, @tcgunioncwa I think it is, they sometimes post calls to action and such that are a good way to directly support the workers.

I just want to add, it is useful to boycott a company if the workers are on strike, but not so much otherwise.

In fact not boycotting during a strike is considered crossing the picket line.

not too knowledgeable on the subject but i had a similarity in mind: in chemo, sometimes to kill the bad cells, u have to hurt the good cells too, and after an afterthought, u might have to fully kill the tumor so it doesn't metastize and spread. Ebay should be no more if its business model depends on busting unions

Buying from your local more or less specialized (online) store, instead of from an international megacorp?
