Was neolib hate forged as a right-wing astroturf reaction to the 2000s hate toward neocons?
I genuinely can't wrap my head around the people who throw this, and I thought I was pretty progressive-left. Do those who use neo-lib as an insult disparage well-regulated social democracies such as Nordic nations which blend regulated markets with select-nationalized elements?
Neo-liberal is a political ideology based around free-market capitalism. Reagan and Thatcher are good examples. Pretty right wing economically, theoretically socially agnostic, but experience shows that neo-libs will happily leverage bigotry to fulfil their policy goals.
Libs in this meme comes from a leftist perspective. Anyone who supports capitalist society or ideology is considered at a minimum to be a liberal.
See, this is why the meme is bogus. The bottom picture should be a guy pointing and shrieking "Republican astroturf!"
Or a China/Russian apologist. Or a “tankie.” Or in bad faith. Or a troll. Anything to deny the actual facts.
