Mike Johnson seems to have forgotten he's been elected to public office, not to church leadership. Conflating the two violates our First Amendment right to freedom of conscience.

All the hallmarks of an extremist. His head is so high in the clouds its up his god's ass. I wish all power hungry cunts a swift fall.

god is powerful enough to create Earth and light but cannot create money.

what a pitiful Sky Daddy.

"Just consider the frightening drop in church attendance over the past several decades", yes because people see it for the crap that it is. Please keep using religion for you own personal gain so that more people are exposed and leave religion thus leaving all those that try to use it that way powerless.

It probably doesn't help that god didn't smite any of those assholes speaking in his name on Sunday and raping children (often of the same sex) the rest of the week. Tends to hurt attendance when the big boss doesn't take charge where the rubber meets the road.

I didn’t want to believe it at first, but I fear God may allow our nation to enter into a time of judgment for our collective sins.

I don’t get why these supposed Christians are so afraid of judgement. If you’re so righteous, Mike, won’t you be OK when it’s time to be judged?

Maybe he’s figured out a way to get past his porn tracker app.

So the issue is there are 1/4 non-straight identifying children in the country. And because of that, god will smite us soon. So to stop that, send the GOP money.

What are you going to do with the money, Johnson?! The implication there ranges from forcibly changing school curriculum (already happening in shithole states), to conversion camps (torture, literally), to murdering children. We don't know because he's vague and doesn't actually have any policy attached to this fearmongering fundraiser.

Maybe he's going to buy indulgences en masse from the Catholic Church

If people donate money to me, a middle aged LGBTQ+ person, I'll fistfight Mike Johnson in the middle of the House floor. If you don't fund this brawl, god will probably smite you or else absolutely nothing will happen. Definitely one or the other. But if you're a real patriot, you're as concerned about the state of Mike Johnson's face, which has so far remained unpunched, as I am and you don't want to see this country fall any further into the kind of place where we don't pop assholes directly in their mouths when they get out of line.

You know what they say. Don't give cash. Give food.

[-] Unlocalhost@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago

Clearly he gives no fucks about this and surely has a small but vocal group who want to see nothing more than this country be labeled as a Christian nation. One where yes sure you're free to practice that other religion, as long as we say so, oh and you gays even though my book here says there is not one sin greater than another we are going to go after you like my book of stories says so...

NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE NEWS ALERT I'm uneasy, Patriot. This is Speaker Mike Johnson, and I just had to send this email. I've been thinking about the state of our country, and I cannot conclude anything other than America is hanging on by a thread. Our culture has fallen so far since the founding of our country, and it's just getting worse. I fear America may be beyond redemption. DOES AMERICA NEED MORE GOD? RESPOND NOW a Just consider the frightening drop in church attendance over the past several decades. 1 in 4 high school students identifies as something other than straight- what are they being taught in school? God is mocked openly in the public square. And you don't even want to see the filth that passes for popular culture these days. Let's face it- we live in a depraved culture. I didn't want to believe it at first, but I fear God may allow our nation to enter into a time of judgment for our collective sins. The only question is, is He going to give us one more chance to restore our foundations and return to Him? < DOES AMERICA NEED MORE GOD? RESPOND NOW I hope so, but we are teetering close to the edge. I need to know Patriot. Does America need more God? Will you respond to this urgent question as soon as possible? America needs to recognize that we have much to repent for if we want to avoid the judgment we so clearly deserve, but that starts with returning America to God's good graces once again. Will you do me a favor and answer this one question for me, Patriot? Does America need more God? DOES AMERICA NEED MORE GOD? RESPOND NOW Thank you, and God Bless, Speaker Mike Johnson

Jebus Crisco! This country is absolutely lousy with idiocracy.

[-] ArugulaZ@kbin.social 5 points 7 months ago

I'll send him some gummy dildos, like people did eight years ago when the kill-billies invaded a bird sanctuary in Oregon.

[-] ivanafterall@kbin.social 5 points 7 months ago

Johnson concluded his remarks with, "I'm a real boy!"

Everyone may hate on ICP but as stupid as they are, they can clearly see the grift done by these fake religious folk and make fun of them in their songs for being greedy devils in disguise. For example, Mike Johnson.

Hell they even make fun of rednecks and idiots waving the Confederate flag in some songs.

Check out their song Hellalujah.

Mike's behind the curve on this one. God already created the GOP to smite us all.

[-] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 4 points 7 months ago

My favorite fringe religious conspiracy is the idea of the Rapture .... the belief that when the end times start, God will magically take up all his faithful followers before destroying the world.

My favorite take on this is .... the Rapture already occurred and the End Times have begun ... it's just that no one was worthy and nobody was taken up, even all those idiots that believed they were God's chosen people.
