That is, which shows heavily involve therapy and sitting in and getting to watch characters recieve therapy in a therapists office/room. Maybe on a divan but not necessary.

Please post an outlet where it can be usually streamed (Streaming service)

I just discovered

Billions (Showtime)

The Sopranos (HBO)

Oh I just remembered! Mr.robot focuses on therapy a lot just like sopranos. The first season is its weakest and starts as a homage to hacking thrillers but after that delves Into deep psychological issues and mysteries. Very good thriller just have to get past initial hacking homage episodes

Yeah it's more than just an arc in Mr. Robot, it's an important part of pretty much the whole show

[-] daredevil@kbin.social 2 points 6 months ago

Came here with this show in mind. Would recommend.

Tom Ellis in that role... In those clothes... out of those clothes... just the way he carried that role...
Made me realize the wife and I have similar tastes with regards to men.

[-] Devi@kbin.social 13 points 6 months ago

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend does but not at the start, the therapy is a minor point in S1 but becomes bigger further down the line.

Monk (Amazon)

[-] Pratai@lemmy.ca 10 points 6 months ago

Shrinking. On Apple TV. Done by the same people that made Ted Lasso.

[-] MonsieurArchi@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

This show is pretty good. I really loved it!

[-] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Will check out :)

Like, the couple's therapy or is there something else?

[-] TheRealKuni@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago

The second season has a very good therapy arc. Extends into the third season, somewhat. Though there are some…frustrating components in the third season. But overall it’s very good and worth it.

[-] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

For who, singular or plural and who gets therapy?

[-] TheRealKuni@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Originally one of the players gets therapy for the yips, but over to course of the second season many other players, and Ted Lasso himself, get therapy. It’s really well handled (considering the show isn’t primarily about therapy).

If you’ve seen the first season, you know Ted struggles with anxiety and panic attacks. Season 3 shows him continuing to work on these issues using tools he learned in season 2.

In treatment with Gabriel Byrne is literally about a therapist and the patients he treats.

After Life with Rick Gervais. But the therapist isn’t a good one 🤓

House, MD (Prime) had a season that focused on it.

Hannibal (Prime) is cat and mouse between an FBI profiler and his therapist.

Shrinking (Apple TV) has so much of this

Star Trek: Discovery has some, it's not usually a major plot point, but it's present.

Edit: How to watch: Borrow DVDs from the library. Free, ad free, and legal.

[-] NullaFacies@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 months ago

rips DVDs before returning

[-] Smokeydope@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

A good few episodes in dexter focuses on therapy a lot.

The Bright Sessions is a podcast, not a show, but it was super interesting, told from a fictional therapist's point of view. The therapist helps people with superhuman abilities/curses (and depression, anxiety, etc.) learn how to manage their atypical lives. There's more drama and time travel too but I forgot.

I listened on Google Podcasts.

Try not to use like Apple/Google podcasts, consider PocketCasts or some FOSS podcast app thats portable

[-] radix@lemm.ee 3 points 6 months ago

Yeah, I've deleted it now in favor of AntennaPod, but I've also stopped listening to podcasts (no particular reason), so I haven't actually used AntennaPod much.

[-] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Just save em for when you're out walking or driving. I like having them for travel but I rarely can focus unless im on the go. Thats how ive always been with them

[-] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Try PocketCasts tho

Aiyeeee, its horror. I try to tay away from the genre but hopefully its of someinterest to someone here

[-] JWBananas@startrek.website 2 points 6 months ago

They call it horror. But it's so much more than that.

[-] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

The worst I can handle is Ring lol

[-] JWBananas@startrek.website 2 points 6 months ago

If you can handle Ring, you can handle Evil. It's more of a surreal thriller. You might be pleasantly surprised! There are some horror aspects from time to time, but it isn't about that. It's basically "What if X-Files, but Catholics instead of aliens?"

[-] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Handle is even putting it over-generously lol

[-] FrickAndMortar@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

“Michael Tuesdays and Thursdays” was funny, but also had some layers to it; a very complicated patient and his therapist, who is writing a book about his care - so not always totally objective, as he has something to gain. And then that therapist also sees a therapist (played by the late, great Ed Asner) who seems to be going senile.

It’s funny, sometimes sad, sometimes very sweet, with a good cast.

Never Have I Ever (highschool coming of age show, therapy focuses on those issues). I believe it's on Netflix

Atlanta has a short but decent therapy arc in the last season

[-] ImmortanStalin@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 6 months ago

Like 90% of "The Patient" is psychotherapy. The rest is plotting to escape a serial killer.
