Is it really 33% nuts, 33% raisins or dried cranberries, and 33% chocolate? Or is it a different percentage? I think it may be 40-40-20, or 35-35-30.

100% chocolate. Shoot I’m just eating straight chocolate chips. Again.

[-] Mog_fanatic@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Absolutely agree. The other things are just garbage and a waste of energy to consume. If for some reason you find yourself with trail mix that isn't all chocolate, what you want to do is just heat up the trail mix over a strainer and let all the chocolate fall thru. Let the chocolate cool, throw away the rest, and then eat the remaining chocolate once it hardens. Enjoy the best trail mix ever.

It’s whatever ratio you like! I go heavier on the nuts because I can pretend it’s healthier.

[-] pomodoro_longbreak@sh.itjust.works 10 points 10 months ago

"they're healthy fats! You gotta get your healthy fats in" I say around a full mouth of cashews and macadamia nuts, my fifth such handful

[-] Thorny_Thicket@sopuli.xyz 6 points 10 months ago

Probably is. Raisins makes many people's blood sugar levels shoot thru the roof. It's basically candies. The only issue with nuts is that it's easy to over eat them and they're hugely calorie dense

[-] bionicjoey@lemmy.ca 5 points 10 months ago

Calorie density is the entire point of trail mix. It's not a bad thing.

[-] favrion@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Makes sense.

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 13 points 10 months ago

Whatever it is, the raisens should be at the lowest with the chocolate just above them. I hate it when my trail mix is more chewy than crunchy.

[-] czarrie@lemm.ee 11 points 10 months ago

1% spider so you don't eat too much in one go

[-] favrion@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

But protein though?

[-] housepanther@lemmy.goblackcat.com 9 points 10 months ago

I'll go with 1/4 nuts, 1/4 seeds, 1/4 dried fruit, and 1/4 M n' Ms. 😋

[-] favrion@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Good call, except seeds are too tiny for my taste.

[-] housepanther@lemmy.goblackcat.com 2 points 10 months ago

I like pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

[-] dystop@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

Mine is usually 100% chocolate, 0% nuts, 0% fruit. Oops

[-] ivanafterall@kbin.social 5 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

25% chocolate, 25% peanuts, 25% caramel, 25% nougat = health food of the gods

[-] ivanafterall@kbin.social 7 points 10 months ago

I like to think of it as a portable trail mix loaf.

[-] RalphWiggum@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago

Holy shit, mine too!

[-] pomodoro_longbreak@sh.itjust.works 6 points 10 months ago

That's way too much chocolate for my tastes. I like a low like 5% so you don't get it every handful.

[-] Bilbo@hobbit.world 6 points 10 months ago

75% rye chips. The rest can be whatever

[-] HatterTheSad@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

75%? Why are you skimping on the rye chips?

[-] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Mine is more like... 60% nuts, 30% raisins, 10% chocolate, by weight.

[-] Skoobie@lemmy.film 5 points 10 months ago

I once had a high school science teacher tell us that trail mix was a homogeneous mixture because there was an equal amount of each ingredient. He was ridiculously incorrect of course but that stuck with me lol.

[-] SuperSpruce@lemmy.ml 4 points 10 months ago

0-50-50 because I'm allergic to nuts lol

[-] favrion@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Fruit and chocolate is a heavenly combo.

[-] merde@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago
[-] neptune@dmv.social 2 points 10 months ago

Depends on your goal I guess? I can't imagine chocolate being over twenty percent unless you are just making candy.

[-] Crackhappy@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

I don't like chocolate in mine at all.

[-] LeftBoobFreckle@lemmings.world 1 points 10 months ago

I'm not sure about the ratio but I just found this at Costco and it's amazing, plus no chocolate which is gross.

[-] get_off_the_phone@sh.itjust.works 0 points 10 months ago

Chocolate IS gross. Glad to see another anticho

[-] Sketchpad01@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Finally, more sane people!

Cassandra would like to have a word with you.

[-] ElPussyKangaroo@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

She's the main character a book series called "The Secret" by Pseudonymous Bosch.

Very fun and REALLY cool series.

Cassandra has a trail mix that contains chocolate chip and banana as well.

[-] favrion@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago
[-] ElPussyKangaroo@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Absolutely. As an Indian, it's a very common snack here...

[-] intensely_human@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

The trick is to put knobs on your helmet that control the ratios. That way your trail mix steam can be altered based on the situation.

[-] favrion@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

A helmet? While walking on a trail?
