That would be a nightmare to actually eat, the skin is fully intact.

Now, slice the cucumber normally and make little finger sandwiches with it, and that's actually pretty appealing.

the skin is fully intact

You need to see a dentist if the skin on a cucumber is too much for you lol

~~It looks like a zucchini, not a cucumber~~

Edit: I am wrong

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Those bumps are very cucumber

[–] MasterNerd@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago (2 children)

you know what, I'm not gonna have a fight over the Internet over whether or not a picture is of a zucchini or cucumber

[–] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 4 points 10 months ago

You don't have a choice. I am already deploying soldiers to your location.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Okay, dunno why you brought it up then.

I've never had a cucumber with bumps on before.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Strange, most slicer varieties have at least some bumps, though not as pronounced as most picking varieties. Maybe you're used to Persians?

[–] gentooer@programming.dev 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Wow, I never realised that cucumbers in America are different! Our variety is apparently the English one.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago

There are a bunch of different varieties! Sometimes the bumps on smaller cukes will even have little spikes.

It would be way too much cucumber for me, but this is right up some people's alley. My husband will eat an entire cucumber whereas I can only enjoy a few slices at a time.

I have celiac, and I'll sometimes use iceberg lettuce leaves as sandwich material. I prefer that because it's got a much milder flavor.

[–] bruhduh@lemmy.world 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

For me cucumber is just edible water, i can eat them instead of drinking, hydrohomies also like these water crunchies

[–] LinkOpensChest_wav@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I must detect a flavor that others don't because there's a pretty strong flavor for me that can't be ignored.

They sometimes make me burp, too. Maybe it's one of those genetic things because my dad has the same experience.

Don't get me wrong -- I really like cucumbers, especially ones fresh from the garden, but I'd never eat a big chunk in one sitting, unless it were a pickle.

That definitely is a thing! If you buy English/hothouse cucumbers instead of standard American cucumbers, they are less prone to causing this!

[–] GluWu@lemm.ee 4 points 10 months ago

I don't think I could eat the whole thing like it's pictured, but imagine cutting it into like sushi sized pieces. I would 100% eat a few.

But I'm incredibly lazy so in reality I just shove the various ingredients in my face hole.

[–] sneezycat@sopuli.xyz 29 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'm sure the carbs are the problem, and totally not the half a kilo of ham and cheese filling.

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That's cheese?? I thought it was mayo or something

[–] sneezycat@sopuli.xyz 1 points 10 months ago

I'm scared of it and I don't wanna ask.

[–] whereBeWaldo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 10 months ago

Someone has to threaten me with physical violence or death for me to eat this shit

[–] Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (2 children)
[–] rosymind@leminal.space 2 points 10 months ago

Yeah, that looks satisfyingly crunchy!

[–] MacNCheezus 1 points 10 months ago

Honestly, I probably would as well.

[–] SuddenDownpour@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Any similar alternative for someone who wants to eat less bread, but not lose weight?

[–] MacNCheezus 1 points 10 months ago

I guess you could use a zucchini or an eggplant instead of a cucumber…

[–] Harpsist@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Botanically, yes. From a culinary perspective, no.
