I am using Insular and create a work profile.

In the Work profile, say I want to install a modded version of an app; alongwith it I also want to install the normal version in the Home profile.

When I install the second app, it doesn't installs and a message appears that sort of says, "Another user has already installed this app which is different from this and is of some other version".

Till now, i always thought work profile makes a complete another instance and no corelation with the Home Profile. I want to know was am I wrong somewhere, or had not doing the setup properly.

To my knowledge apps have to be the same version across the entire phone, across all profiles, across all accounts.

For instance if somebody in profile b upgrades the app, users and profile a will see it.

Check out an app called Parallel Space. I used it once to have two accounts in a game ages ago. It's been a while so I don't know how it's going now, but it worked pretty well when I used it

I think Parallel Space is kind of a bloatware. But instead of clones, i want isolated apps in different profiles; and yes different versions too.

Check out Shelter. Iuse Shelter myself but I have heard that Insular does the same thing. Shelter has an option of installing from APK directly into work profile. I tried installing different versions just now and it worked.

Edit: Hadn't properly read your post. Changed my reply to better fit the question
