A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

Hahaha.

Also, per the BBC's reporting:

Earlier, a Wagner-linked Telegram channel Grey Zone reported that the jet was shot down by air defences in Tver region, north of Moscow.

Surprisingly not surprising.

[–] skillissuer@discuss.tchncs.de 23 points 1 year ago (1 children)

somebody gave girkin one last job

Say what you will about the guy, he's got more experience shooting down civilian jets than almost anyone.

[–] Che_Donkey@lemmy.ml 20 points 1 year ago

shot down by a moon rocket 🚀

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 60 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wagner Channels already announced another March of Justice™ in case Prigozhin bit the dirt.

Ended it with "you better hope he's still alive..."

Edit: Three separate sources confirmed Prigozhin and Utkin dead. Not only Wagnerites but also ultranationalists are calling for blood.

I asked a Finnish fella on NCD if he could make the russians march on moscow again, and he said he'll see what he can do.

Damn guy works fast.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Those Finns don't fuck about do they. Just straight up get on with it, or they'll be late for vodka and sauna.

[–] InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The Finns are hardcore, the footage from the Winter War is something else: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iw0jwrWqOKI

[–] OctopusKurwa@lemm.ee 14 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Don't forget they had the most goated soldier of all time Simo Häyhä.

[–] zakobjoa@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

Forget Simo, celebrate certified meth machine Aimo Koivunen.

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

~300 fucking close range kills with an SMG after he realized he was the only guy with a working weapon.

I seriously doubt I could have lived with myself after that, but i guess you process things differently in wartime.

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I seriously doubt I could have lived with myself after that,

Invaders must die.

[–] eestileib@mastodon.social 9 points 1 year ago

@InverseParallax @eestileib@sh.itjust.works

I mean, look at my username, I get it.

But it's still a different mindset than I've ever personally been in.

[–] Puschkul@feddit.de 50 points 1 year ago (2 children)

There are two wolves in me:

Please be real, i want to see another russian civil war.

Please don't be real, i want him in front of the war criminal tribunal.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Putin's cracking down, I doubt there will be a civil war.

[–] InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 28 points 1 year ago

Tread softly, for you tread on my dreams.

[–] Puschkul@feddit.de 7 points 1 year ago

Yes and no to that. I can't say if it is the right move for him to reduce the strength of the known conspirators, but on the other hand adding people to that group who weren't fully comitted before.

[–] RegularGoose@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Civil wars generally happen because someone cracked down.

[–] GBU_28@lemm.ee 17 points 1 year ago

This is punishment for him attempting a funni.

He moved in towards Moscow, hoping for support from other oligarchs to materialize. It didn't, so he had to pull back. This is the final action of that arc of failure.

[–] Katzastrophe@feddit.de 36 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Technically it's not yet confirmed, but you know what? The demorilisation this causes is worth it to me

[–] zakobjoa@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Boy, have I got good news for you.

[–] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago

I heard that in /veggie tales

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 27 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

How sure are they that he was aboard the doomed plane, on a scale from “he was checked on biometrically and multiple layers of security cameras verified that he couldn’t have disembarked” to “well, he was on the passenger manifest I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯”?

[–] Bread@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 year ago

Made us believe you died once, shame on you.

Made us believe you died twice, shame on me.

I have a feeling there might be a bit more thorough of a check this time. You can't really fake your death more than once and people not get suspicious if it happens again.

[–] skillissuer@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 1 year ago

bodies of priggo and utkin were already found

[–] ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This isn't surprising (on the contrary, I was constantly surprised while Prigozhin remained alive) but I wouldn't call Putin consolidating power good news.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 17 points 1 year ago

OTOH, while he’s consolidating power, he’s also cutting off the few remaining sources of information that aren’t sycophants telling him what profits them most. Luckily for him, history has shown that leaders who do this rarely if ever suffer any adverse consequences to their ability to maintain control.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Technically, he did fall out of a window

[–] skillissuer@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 year ago

on this plane everyone sat next to a window. what a coincidence

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@kbin.social 21 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Such a shame the plane didn't land on Putin...

[–] bloopernova@programming.dev 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That would've been even better than musky and zuckbot punching each other, falling over, and breaking their necks.

Too bad Putin and Xi weren't on board, too. We could have had five goddamn minutes of peace and quiet.

[–] Maddison@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

OMG! Would be the best plane Crash ever.

It's like taking Stalin and Hilter in one hit

Get fucked you ugly bald war crime cunt. Hopefully, the jet didn't explode but plummeted to the ground with him screaming and shitting his pants all the way.

Cunts like him make me want to believe in hell and sin so much so I can meet him in and kill him again with my bare hands

[–] zakobjoa@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

It did. There's video. Basically lost one wing and one elevator and pirouetted gravitationally.
