Tis working for me, hehehe
I'm so glad I'm trans. Minoxidil was making my face bloat like crazy and finasteride gave me severe depression
Minoxidil and Finasteride are FDA-approved for slowing hair loss (backed up by clinical trials), and may provide some hair regrowth, but you have to take/apply them forever. They're both available as generics.
Minoxidil can be sold over-the-counter (Rogaine is minoxidil) while finasteride requires a prescription.
Neat! Are there some variants that you do not have to take for the rest of your life, or do they not work then? I've looked into those kinda things and they just seem very... Intense.
I was hoping for some home-cooked grandmother remedy that worked for some inexplicable reason.
Well, you don't have to take them for the rest of your life if you handle the source of the problem directly...
Male pattern baldness is caused by dihydrotestosterone, the only way to stop it is to stop your body from converting overall testosterone to DHT with finasteride, or by significantly dropping all testosterone levels with anti-androgens (or orchiectomy I suppose)
There are not. Hair loss is genetic. So short of gene therapy, you're stuck with it.
~~I don't use either because I'd rather lose my hair than deal with that shit forever, but topical minoxidil, while less effective, has significantly fewer side effects and you can just buy it in bulk online.~~ Ignore this.
What happens after you stop does it all fall off at once
minoxidil promotes hair growth while finasteride slows hair loss
if you stop minoxidil, the hair growth that occurred because of it will eventually fall off and doesn't grow back. if you stop finasteride, then the hair loss will speed back up again

I don't know.
I think it does
None of it trumps genetics
Invest in hats
Hats do not work for me :( I've got curly hair, and hats flatten them. Otherwise I would definitely rock a beret
Well it sounds like the having hair thing will take care of itself
Beanies?
Finasteride can. so can guys in Turkey. I've seen really impressive results from each. the sooner you start finasteride the better. some not great side effects though, so hopefully you're not sensitive.
do guys in Turkey have fewer side effects?
No it's all snake oil as far as I know
Damn, I will miss my curls
If you're getting a bald spot but the front is good you could try Rogaine, but you have to use it forever. There are oral medications that encourage hair growth, but it encourages hair growth everywhere, you also have to take it forever, it also affects your sex drive.
What happens if you don't you it forever, after you stop does it all fall out at once
it just stops working, and apparently cessation and restarting is less effective than not stopping. Mixed internet results on how quickly it it is lost.
Thanks! Yeah I've looked at that kinda stuff, but it is harder to get where I am and also it scares me a bit.
I'm getting thin in the front, the back is luscious as ever.
I mean I know it's all depressing but if you had to choose it thinning in the front is probably the least shitty.
Embrace a short cut / eventual baldness, friend. It shows confidence.
My head is shaped like an egg, I have been bald before, it does not suit me and is not what I want
Understandable! Since hair is something you prioritize you may also want to start researching hairpieces.
It seems like i will have to, though I hadn't even considered it. Thanks for opening my eyes honestly
start listening to Onyx and become one of the bal hedz
