End of an era for sure. The endless march of enshitification goes on.

God damn it

So...are there good alternatives?

[–] You999@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Are you using a RPI for it's GPIO pins or are you just using it as a small computer?

[–] Fixbeat@lemmy.ml 1 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

I use hifiberry, which I believe uses gpio. Probably not compatible with any other board anyway.

There are hundreds of different alternatives varying in cost, power, and configuration. Just to name a few: Arduino, ODROID, Orange Pi.

Alternatives as far as efficiency and modularity, for sure, but I’m not sure that any other boards have the same level of documentation and support.

Used thin clients are a great alternative, if you don't need the SBC form factor or gpio.

That explains all their pro police stuff I guess. Looking for more applications of their technology.

At least he is sticking to the pre-IPO CEO talking points. It's all reverse speak.

"while I'm involved in running the thing, I don't expect people to see any change in how we do things."

Ok, so things are going to change. Got it.

not-for-profit side expand by "at least a factor of 2X."

"We are going to double production and make killer profits."

after the Bloomberg story, Upton said he understood concerns about a potential shift in mission or a change in the pricing structure. "It's a good thing, in that people care about us,

"If they paid more now, just wait and see what happens when optimize manufacturing costs and triple the price for customers. Suckers."

Yeah, fuck them. They are toast.

Meh, there are better SBCs with libre firmware.

[–] Bisexual_Cookie@hexbear.net 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Can you recommend some? I've been looking at some alternatives like n100 boards but there's so much choice :/

[–] IsThisLoss@hexbear.net 2 points 5 months ago

What's the use case? Recommendations will vary a little based on that as the driver maturity isn't all in the same place.
