This actually happened to me the first (and only) time I was in an escape room. I had never had a panic attack before so it came as a bit of a surprise to everyone. It was when escape rooms were relatively new and the staff did not know what to do. It took the pleading of my friends to get them to let me out.

It turns out that people with claustrophobia respond poorly to being trapped in an underwater elevator.
Reminds me of the time I was working retail and a visibly drunk woman crawled under the half down security grate to try to buy something after we were closed.
I told her to leave, she turned around and saw the gate was half down, had a panic attack that I had “trapped her in the store” and proceeded to start demolishing the displays and threatening me.
Security was miraculously quick, but as a 16 year old on only my second ever job, I was scared shitless by the absolute insanity that is the average human being.
10/10 I quit 2 months later after having to stand in one spot for 11 straight hours during Black Friday.
Haha! That story is hilarious. Obviously not for you as a 16 year old kid experiencing it, but reading about it made me laugh out loud for real. Thanks for sharing.
Terrifying in the moment, hilarious as soon as she was in hand cuffs.
Shouldn’t be surprising that I’ve never worked retail again, but that job was kinda cool as a teenager.
