I was just scrolling through the megathread for untrusted websites and saw that yts.mx was untrusted? I've been using that website for YEARS. Am I fucked? I did a quick search in this community and saw posts mostly recommending the site, so does anyone know what's going on? The reason listen for it's untrustworthiness is "Fake clone: (Crafted with cunning intent to ensnare unsuspecting users through deliberate deception)."

TorrentFreak has some good articles on it but here are some highlights

The site, which is connected to the people who hijacked EZTV earlier this year, want the public to believe that they are the real YTS. They misleadingly use the name of a member of the real YTS team, for example, and suggest that YTS simply decided to move to a new domain.

In order to survive, YTS had to hand over some user details, while promising to pay over $1 million in piracy damages, on paper. In addition, the notorious torrent site agreed to remove torrents linking to the movie companies’ content and prevent them from being reuploaded.

This unprecedented deal caused quite the stir when YTS user data was put to work in other lawsuits against individual file sharers and Internet providers. In a very pragmatic sense, the settlement was a great deal for the movie companies. At least, for as long as it lasted.

I don't think you are fucked though. I think it's mostly a precaution to keep users from being misled.

Wow, I've been reading articles on YTS all morning... This is insane! I definitely won't be downloading anything from them ever again. This is also quite nauseating.
