What are your go to events for shocking people into learning about US imperialism in South America?

The overthrow/killing of Salvador Allende is the strongest in my opinion. What else would you pick?

I would say Halls Of Montezuma, but it's so far back that it's easily handwaved.

The Banana Wars and United Fruit are my go to. Not the bloodiest example of south american imperialism but the complete nakedness of the US invading nations on behalf of company profit cannot be beat when instructing normies

confusion Uhhh I mean I'm gay. The only issue with the banana wars is all those artillery rounds should have been fired up my ass

I was actually thinking of all the stuff the US has done in South America earlier today, and it's funny how Western media presents China as pressuring its neighbors when amerikkka couldn't even let fucking Nicaragua be in peace, and we know how friendly they are to other countries in their vicinity like Cuba too projection

Anything Elliot Abrams was involved in. I vaguely remember an episode of cth where they had Scahill on and he was telling stories about the shit Abrams covered up or condoned and it was nightmare fuel.

Depends on if Central America is part of South America or North America.

Definitely the coup on behalf of Chiquita in Guatemala.

It's not the worst because it's a competitive field, but giving millions of dollars to death squads in El Salvador was what I thought of.

It's kinda hard to name just one thing the fuckery has been ongoing for a while now.

I dunno, how about anything in the neighborhood of School of the Americas? That net will catch every single coup and genocide and set of death squads in South America in the last 70 years or so.
