Is there some unstudied trait of lead poisoning in boomer brains that causes the "big nose narrow head" boomer comic cliche? 19

Lead poisoning can cause a loss of sense of smell. Therefore the boomers with the biggest noses could still impress their dates with their ability to smell and so became the boomer epitome of beauty.

Someone should go around memefying old dumb boomer comics to give them entire new and actual funny punchlines, lol.

Are you suggesting Gramsci is a bad read?

I just reposted it 'cause I thought it seemed funny. I unfortunately don't know enough Gramsci to have an opinion! What's a good place to start?

You should read Gramsci, he's definitely pretty clear on his analysis of Gramsci. His prison notebooks are all about Gramsci's ideas, so I'd recommend them if you already have some basis in reading theory

Gramsci is pretty clear on his analysis of Gramsci? I think maybe you meant someone else perhaps? Or maybe I am just missing something.

[–] commiewithoutorgans@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I just think his analysis speaks for itself you know.

[–] GrainEater@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

he's very similar to Marx in that respect, you really should just read Marx if you want to understand the works of Marx

[–] commiewithoutorgans@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well I do think other writers can explain Marx well and Gramsci also, just that Gramsci explains Gramsci pretty well you know? It's where I'd start for Gramsci, at Gramsci explaining Gramsci (I'm just fucking around with our lemmygrad comrades)

I have to concede that Gramsci is a pretty good scholar of Gramsci, possibly even the best due to his extreme familiarity with Gramsci's work

Definitely get a secondary analysis of Prison Writings. Otherwise it's a lot of trying to decipher that wordy 19th century language. That's on top of Gramsci having to use a lot of code words because he was writing it as basically a political prisoner, and had to get it past the guards and to his wife.

Edit: it's called Prison Notebooks, sorry
