Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

We can't be that lucky, this is some tactic to fuck over the people again.

Nah, it's a clickbaity article title. He said something like "I'm not the one to worry about, it's the next four."

I’m waiting for New York Times to tell me how this dooms Biden’s chances to win in 2024

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

let me consult the NYT article generation orb.... "try again later"

[–] june@lemmy.world 15 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Am I naive to hope that a majority dem house would suddenly get productive between now and the election?

[–] LEDZeppelin@lemmy.world 20 points 8 months ago

The moment Dems gain control of house, DINOs like Manchin and Sinema will put on their “bipartisanship” make up and block any sensible legislation in senate

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 7 points 8 months ago

Depends on where you put the bar. Will it be more productive? Almost certainly. Will it be much more productive? Doubtful.

[–] Wrench@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Depends if we get enough of a margin that it would take a bunch of Manchin/Sinemas to fuck things up

[–] theparadox@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

I'm fairly positive that there are a lot more Democrats in Congress more than willing to destroy and water down any progressive bills. Manchin was just from a conservative enough area that he could safely be vocal about it. I am really curious to see who would be next once he's gone and if the Democrats manage to get majorities again.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

On Tuesday, Buck, a Colorado congressman, suddenly resigned, leaving his seat vacant from next week and shrinking the Republican's slim majority in the House to 218 to 213.

Buck did not elaborate on who might be next to depart Congress, but there are a few Republicans who have publicly voiced negative opinions about Trump and could potentially be next out of the door.

One is David Valadao, but a spokesperson for the Congressman confirmed to Newsweek that he has no plans to resign and is actively running for reelection in the 22nd district.

In a January interview with Fox News he accused Trump of "bullying tactics" in securing endorsements from Republicans who are scared of opposing him.

In November, he told CNN that Trump "failed to actually fully secure the border" amid concerns about a rising number of migrant encounters.

There appears to be no love lost between the pair as Trump too has spoken out against Roy, calling him a "RINO" (Republican in name only) on social media.

The original article contains 465 words, the summary contains 169 words. Saved 64%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!
