Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

So in the next 10-20 years we'll get to see:

~Fundamentalist groups aggressively adopting LGBTQ kids to 'prove' they can be converted.

~Lots of suicides.

~Possible murders of parents after some of the kids snap outwards instead of inwards.

~One or two warped 'formerly-LGBTQ' adults that are successfully brainwashed to say they appreciate being kidnapped and tortured and write a terrible book about it and be a conservative show-pony for a few years.

~One or two creative survivors that use their fucked up childhood experiences to write very thoughtful books or maybe direct a movie about it.

~A metric fuckload of totally unnecessary pain, suffering, loneliness and confusion we'll never hear about.

Pretty good haul for one bill.

"Sounds better every time I hear it!" - Republican politicians probably.

Cruelty is the point with these monsters.

Next up, white supremacists allowed to adopt black babies. 🙄

"You can get rid of the blackness if you scrub your skin really hard!" - White supremacists

"Welcome to the family. We find your very identity highly offensive and intend to torture it out of you."

Oh wow so there are TOTALLY gonna be fundies who move there for the express purpose of trying to “save” children. This will destroy so many people.

This is fucking disgusting. As someone going through the final steps of becoming a foster parent, having had to do dozens of hours of training for it, this is cruel and will result in deaths

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 15 points 7 months ago

Had to read the headline a few times to really let the stupidity sync in on this one.

[–] TheLadyAugust@lemmy.world 14 points 7 months ago

I'm sorry, but isn't this the exact definition of what they themselves call "grooming"?

What the actual fuck?

Allowing parents who will kill their kids to Adopt Kids is Pro Life!

-Save The Children Republicans.

Oh boy. Some people will make it their life's work to "save" kids souls.

Fuck you, Tennessee.

Non-accepting parents shouldn't be allowed to keep their own kids.

Who are these news sites man

Erin in the morning?

[–] AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.works 17 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Erin Reed is married to Zooey Zephyr, Montana's first transgender state legislator, and does well researched articles about legislation and other things that affect the US trans community. Her truthful and responsible work is absolutely essential to the trans community and makes up for a mainstream media landscape that will generate garbage clickbait for profit not giving a shit if they kill us in the process.

Thank you for educating me! I had (perhaps obviously) never heard of them before. ❤️
