I put my lighter and guitar picks there. I sometimes put my ring in there, too. And flash disks, memory cards... Wow, I just realized I use that section for real.

[–] TTH4P@lemm.ee 14 points 6 months ago

Sometimes I put my thumb in it when I don't know what to do with my hands.

[–] harpo@sh.itjust.works 11 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Pocket watch. Isn't that the intended purpose of the small pocket?

[–] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

It is called a Watch Pocket or a Fob Pocket.

[–] cartography_cat@sh.itjust.works 9 points 6 months ago

Daily- I put my rings in it when I take them off to cook or whatever.

[–] GingeyBook@lemm.ee 6 points 6 months ago

Not the small pocket on jeans, but I do have some pants and shorts that have a small pocket fully inside the other pocket that I like to put my keys in

Keeps them from rattling around and scratching things

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

Bike key or coins. We call them coin pockets for a reason.

[–] radix@lemm.ee 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I put cool rocks in there.

[–] tobogganablaze@lemmus.org 7 points 6 months ago

Jesus Christ, Marie, they're not rocks, they're minerals!

[–] Dumbkid@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 6 months ago

Change, or a hairtie

[–] Tarogar@feddit.de 4 points 6 months ago

Every time I unintentionally find it. Mostly for being annoyed at it even being a feature.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

All the time for my lactose intolerant pills

[–] bardm@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 months ago

I use it every day for a small Swiss army knife.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Oh, second post: Steve Jobs taught us that that's where you put your iPod Nano.

[–] Mechaguana@programming.dev 2 points 6 months ago

God i loved that thing. Simple and effective. Easy to use for sports or just hanging out. Im sad mine isint working anymore, i tried reviving it but alas, it's light never blazed again.

Used to be for drugs.

[–] FrostKing@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

My biggest test for wireless earbuds is if the case is small enough to fit in that pocket. The usefulness of that is incredible, it's like they're not there.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Another vote for earbuds.

[–] wolfeh@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Extra weed cart.

[–] Azzu@lemm.ee 3 points 6 months ago

I don't use a wallet and put my bank card and id card in it, I don't need anything else

[–] BugleFingers@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

I have a pen knife I use for work. It's an excellent fit for the coin pocket

[–] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I'd put a penny in there so that the pocket has a use. Otherwise, nothing.

Maybe next time an onion.

[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

loose gummi bears

[–] waz@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

I put my key in there.

[–] SomeAmateur@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 months ago

All the time now! When I bought my flashlight (Sofirn SC-21) I learned that it fits perfect so that's where it goes now

[–] Moghul@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Every day, for my in-ear headphones.

[–] Archelon@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

I usually use it to hold a pocketknife or change

[–] ediculous@feddit.nl 2 points 6 months ago
[–] KISSmyOSFeddit@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

I use it for a small pocket knife I always carry with me.
Also fits a vape, a lighter, your house key (when you want to go out with nothing else on you), a couple guitar picks, or a few coins if you use one of those fancy new wallets that only hold cards and bills.

[–] cheesymoonshadow@lemmings.world 2 points 6 months ago

In my younger days of hitting the club, I would use it every time I went out. Wallet in right back pocket, lip gloss in small pocket.

I never use it now. Now it's wallet in left back pocket, phone in right back pocket, keys in right front pocket, earbuds in left front pocket. If I'm working and wearing cargo pants, work gloves go in left back pocket and wallet shifts to a more secure left leg pocket, pens and box cutter in right leg pocket.

Micro fiber cloth for glasses and screens

[–] curiousaur@reddthat.com 2 points 6 months ago

I keep quarters there; Iike to shoot pool in bars. Also my wedding ring when I take it off to wash my hands, cook, or do other work I don't want to wear it for.

[–] andrewta@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Box cutter for work.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 6 months ago

I used it for my earbuds case for a long time. I don't buy many pairs of jeans and wore the same pair for most of the pan (I didn't leave home for more than a couple hours of walking and listening to podcasts most days, so they only got washed sporadically). It eventually wore through and frayed. I'll probably resume that usage when it gets warm enough not to carry a hoodie.

[–] charles@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 months ago

I used to only use it for random change I'd get on the rare occasion I'd pay for something with cash. Nowadays it's always filled with dog treats since my dog is nearly always with me.

Plastic toothpicks

[–] Crisps@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Isn’t it called the condom pocket for a reason?

[–] andrewta@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Also called a coin pocket

[–] gregorum@lemm.ee 1 points 6 months ago

That’s where I put my AirPods

[–] Pacmanlives@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Clip my pocket knife in it

[–] shai_hulud@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

I carry a small stone cicada in mine.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

That's where I keep my pocket knife.

Back before smart phones, I also kept my Motorola Razr in there because it was just small enough to fit.

Zippo lighter, to light my to-go joints. Sometimes a pen but most of my pants it's too short and it looks silly.

[–] tiredofsametab@kbin.run 1 points 6 months ago

Sometimes I'll toss a Zippo lighter in there if I'm going out drinking or something. Otherwise, it's unused. My pockets only have my wallet (which has its own change purse), my phone, and a handkerchief (living in hot and humid areas means lots of sweat wiping). Keys get clipped to a belt loop. I'm generally not carrying anything else and it will likely end up in a bag of some sort if I am (especially when I lived down in Tokyo and was away from home generally unless sleeping and was taking public transit).
